Hi

I'm new here and wondered if someone could help with a couple of Vista64bit questions:

Just ordered a 64bit vista from Microsoft and wondered that if the DVD replaces the 32bit verison. I.E when you install it you just install the 64bit ver not the 32bit then the 64bit on top as an upgrade.

Also, my vista is an upgrade so i have to install XP first, will i have to do the same with the 64bit too? or can you just install onto a blank HDD?

Thanks.

All versions are the same, just the keys denote what gets installed. the x64 Version you just install in one go, you don't need to install anything on top of it.

If you have an upgrade then yes I believe you need XP on there first.

Ah ok then.

So if both versions are already on the DVD do you know what comes through the post? another DVD or just a new serial number?

Also going back to installing a new copy of vista, is there a way to install the upgrade onto a blank HDD without having to install XP first.

With XP i used to be able to boot up with it and install, it asked me for my old windows 2000 disc to check then it would install.
With Vista it just says it needs to run through windows.
