Hi,

Has anybody ever had any electrical interference sounds from inside the pc case after booting a new second hand pc build up for the first time?

It's hard to describe, except I guess it sounds a bit like an old ZX spectrum game loading, almost...and it gets louder / worse when I move the mouse more...most strange!

Any tips to fix would be most appreciated! :) I'll try to get a video of the sound it's making and put it on YouTube shortly!

Update - Youtube video of the sound here! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L8HOEaTz8CQ&ab_channel=ColinDodd

Likely coil whine from VRM of either CPU or GPU.
Most likely from CPU VRM, if mouse movement causes changes/increase it.

That's quite a loud example, but yeah, not unusual. SSDs can make that kind of sound when writing, but as said above, more likely VRMs.

You could try changing power plans and c-states to see if it helps.

Hi, sorry for the late reply and thank you both for replying!

It seems that just by switching case it has gone away! Identical parts except switched pc case and PSU...who knows! Very weird but problem fixed!:)

If it wasn't the PSU, certain combinations of PSUs/motherboards seem to do it more than others.
