Alright Dave,

If you simply want to go from the Line Out of the PC to the Line in of the Amp I'm guessing you'll simply need a lead with a 3.55mm jack (the small connection for the PC) and then either the same connection on the other end, or a 3.55mm to 1/4 inch jack convertor. Depending on the line in connection size.

3.55mm are the really small connections that you find on PC speaker kits, and the 1/4 inch are sometimes found on the end of headphones.

But something like that would go from the PC to the Amp. Has the amp got no other connections, such as Phono's?

To connect to the amp line in from the PC you require a 3.5mm "minijack" to 2xphono cable (ignore gold adapter):

To switch I can think of 2 options really. Either an external switcher box can be placed between the amp+pc speakers and PC, or you may be able to use a tape monitor out on your amp to connect the PC speakers to.

Switcher boxes tend to use phono connectors throughout (available at a comptetitor, £12.99). You'll need adapters to hook it up. The previously mentioned cable plus a 2xphono to 2xphono (standard interconnect), and an adapter to give 3.5mm minijack socket from 2xphono plugs (also required if using tape monitor):

EDIT: Hmmm can't post pictures from them by the looks of things.

EDIT2:

Something like this:-

would the 3.5 mm be a stereo or mono jack ??
the pc is 10 metres away from the amp so some extension would be needed
the only spare input on the amp is the line in which is rated at 200mv @ 40k ohms ,which is the same input level as the cd tuner and tape deck inputs.
would the pc sound line out be at this level as nothing is quoted in the manual
i am trying to find something on the m*pl**s site(ocuk dont appear to have a suitable cable)
do i need a sound card or is onboard audio alright for this
sorry for al the questions as i dont want to bust anything
cheers

Does the Pioneer have a 3.5mm input rather than phono Firegod? I can't seem to find much about it but it's highly uncommon. Looks to have the standard connections from what I've seen though (ie phono sockets). The 3.5mm must be stereo type.

The amp should work fine with regards to level. They usually will, it only affects the sensitivity (and you can adjust the PC output anyhow).

Onboard audio should work but won't offer the highest sound quality.

The competitor you have starred should stock what you need, look at code L77AU. I use those myself (though shorter).

looks like a trip to the starred out place for 3.5mm stereo jack to two phono plugs splitter and a couple of 5m extensions.
how much of an improvement would a sound card give ??
thanks for all the input

I didn't know mate if it did or not, I was just guessing. I did mention in my first post "does it have any kind of phono connections?" as I wasn't sure myself. :)
