Some upgrades

So I was sick to the back teeth of some of the components in my pc, and it being rock solid stable, but HP I thought I'd keep it instead of a fresh build.

I had a budget of just shy of 150£ I dont know if I made the correct choice, to keep what I had with the upgrades or blow a bigger budget to start a fresh?! But hey ho, you only live once :p

That got me the following components from MM and a certain auction website.

C2D e6850 @ 3ghz 1333fsb
4x 1gb PC6400 Corsair
1x 36gb WD Raptor 10,000rpm
ATi 3850 512mb
Hiper 580w PSU

I feel the Windows Experience Index scores look a bit more reasonable now...

The only original parts inside the case now is the card reader, dvd writer, motherboard and 500gb HDD :p

It actually works a treat and is quite fast compared to it's former self of:

e4500 @ 2.2ghz 800fsb
3gb pc5300 2x 512mb + 2x 1gb
Nvidia 8500 GT 512mb Turbo Cache

Very decent for £150!

Could try upping cpu clock a bit more?

Also, what did you pay for the HD3850 - you could have gotten a much faster HD4850/4870 for £45-55 :p For £35-40 you could ahev gotten a 8800GT(x perhaps)/9800GT, also faster - but that said I used a HdD3850 for a long time and did what I wanted!

The 3850 cost me £22.01 inc delivery :p I suppose I'd get my money back? And maybe a bit of profit should I feel I need a 4850

I dont know how well this Asus/HP motherboard will clock, it'd have to be software though as within bios impossible, the option isn't there :(

It's an old benchmark but 34.4k on 3dmark01 :p

Not bad I say.
