ok, so pc was working fine, put it on one morning and the fans would whirr up but nothing else no post, no error beeps, so i took it all apart & back together again but no joy, tried another PSU, same behaviour, tried another motherboard, same issue, tried another processor, same issue. And now one of my power supplies doesn't even want to power it up, the fans spin for a split second then nothing.

Surely my mobo would beep if there was an issue with ram?

Electrical short?? Had similar behaviour when one of the mobo standoffs was touching something it shouldn't be.

Thanks for the help, forgot to mention i've tried both motherboards out of the case, same behaviour with both. Both PSUs out of the case, one whirrs up the fans, the other spins them for a split second.

Well from that it sounds like you have tried everything but ram? Are you not able to test a different dimm? I take it you have tried booting with minimal things connected. i..e the bare minimum. What about graphics card? MOBO won't necessarily beep.

yep tried with proc/mem/gfx connected, both mobos have onboard gfx too. tried both sticks in either mem slot.

It's really doing my nut in because it's difficult to pinpoint the issue and sick of this laptop lol... Going to get my mate to bring his pc (me old one :/) on monday and try my components in there and vice versa, think thats the best thing i can do really.

Yeah best to try your cpu, ram etc in a diferent board just to be sure but I'd have to say at first sight it looks like a motherboard failure.

mmm the PSU could have zapped all the components, tried a cmos reset?
Reatedly :(

Hopefully I should be able to get my components in another system tomorrow, seriously thinking about building a new pc out of the spare parts I've bough lol

just an update, I've tried my ram and processors in another PC and they work fine, the only logical cause is that the PSU has zapped both of my motherboards... Do I have bad luck or what?

Can anyone think of any other causes because I'm out of them.

Just to recap, the I've basically tried an entire new pc with the only common thing being that they have both been connected up to the OCZ power supply that now wont even spin up it's fans.
