Came out from the gym tonight to find my shiny new scooter had been knocked over

Went in to the gym to ask if anyone had reported it and someone had but not not whoever hit it, however they have CCTV and are going to check it out for me.

So my question if they find out who did it what is my next step?

Do I report it to the police or to my insurance company, didn't want to go through my insurance if possible as it wasn't my fault.

The scooter is a £4500 Yamaha X-Max 250 with only 200 miles on the clock :(

Its my main transport so will also need loan bike whilst its being fixed.

Unlucky Buddy, hope you sort it out.
Maybe get someone local to repair for a lot less than dealers?

Not sure I understand 'A scooter cost you 4500quid?!' WTF does that mean?

It means the poster has expressed his suprise at the idea that a scooter might cost as much as £4500.

indeed, i was under the impression that most of the meep meeps came in around £1500-2000 or are you including insurance costs in that £4500?

Damage that I can see atm is a cracked right hand side panel from the impact and left side has all three panels badly scraped.

As for the cost this is a 250cc maxi scooter, you can pay as much as £8500 for some i.e the T-Max.

in regards to sensible advice, contact your insurance in the first instance. advise them that there is cctv covering the carpark and also contact the police and report this.

chase up the cctv yourself (important as a lot of cctv is wiped after a certain period so make sure you get it pronto.

do the above and sit back and relax and let other people chase everything on your behalf

Thankyou, thats the kind of advice I was looking for :)

not to state the obvious, but do you have any enemys? Like, people who you have had issues with recently....or possibly somebody making a mistake for a 'rival' ???

The chap paid 'whatever' for a scooter and is upset with what is happened. He is asking for any help he may get. If he'd have paid £4500 for maybe a BMW, I am sure he would have got much more from within motors.
FOX...Do you think maybe, that someone to say 'A scooter cost you 4500quid?! would not help?

Found out today that the area I was parked in was not covered by the CCTV

So now got £400 excess to pay & no scooter for between 4-6 weeks :mad:

I imagine the cost of a new sidepanel would be less than £400 for that scooter, I could a side panel for my CBR for that money, weigh up the costs of going through insurance which will be expensive!
