Someone with decent tent knowledge save me!

I have a Eurohike Ryde:

I can vouch for it's waterproofness and stability in wind. You can get better if you spend more but for the price I think it's a great little tent.

Here's the tent up, water beads off nicely:

Edit: The one firemansam posted above does look pretty good if you're looking to spend that much.

My love, my sweet, my ever great fall from the sky haha.

I think I will get that, on one basis!

The porch, enough room to cook in? I don't like cooking inside a tent, I have enough death wishes as it is.

There's very little room in the porch, it's just enough room to get your muddy wellies off and store them in there. I would not recommend cooking... I would not recommend cooking anywhere near a tent :P

If you are going with other people it might be worth sharing some cash to get a tarp with poles. Last year when we went to the lakes it was raining almost the whole time, the tarp provided a much needed communal dry area.

In fact, I'm waiting on my pals to drive up from England as we speak, I'm off camping for three nights... But we have a big tent this year :D

If there is a Sports Direct near you and they have one in stock, they are doing the Wild Country Zephyros 1 for £85! WC are the budget brand of Terra Nova so it's a decent enough tent and fairly light too!

I need to spend a little money and get something waterproof and with a porch so I can cook as well.

only skimmed the OP originally but dear lord do not be cooking in the porch of any tent!! lol

buy a cheap sheet of tarp and tie it between a tree or 2 for a shelter to cook under

Stay away from hi-gear.

Fairly sure you should be able to pick up a 1 man vango for that sort of money, you definitely wont go wrong with them.

This was exactly what i was about to suggest - by far the best tent for under £100 and in some ways better than the lazer comp (which its based on and costs about 3x more) given the added durability. this obviously comes at weight penalty but its still very much light enough. very solid tent indeed and a proper backpacking tent unlike some of the other suggestions here ;)
