I wouldn't touch it as its not your responsibility to do so. Call the hotel or the police, you can do so anonymously. I don't understand why you are worried, its not unfeasible that a cleaner or porter may have noticed it.

it looks very similar to a laptop bag i bought my ex

either call police or hotel but after london bombings everyone was told if you see anything unattended then act on it. you wont get in trouble for trying to be cautious

It probably only belongs to some kid who's had his bag thrown up there by a bully and was too embarresed to say so when he saw someone staring at him through a window. You should still be calling the police though.

Sorry, went for a couple of pints afterwards. The police didn't seem too concerned, they said they'll go have a look in a couple of hours and might come and look out our window. They said it was most likely nothing but might be some stolen goods.

That's most likely IMO. It's been put somewhere out of casual sight but accessible through the window, and the chap who saw your mate acted suspiciously. Probably a lappy that went missing or got left behind at a guess.

Well 4 burly officers came round wearing a lot of scary gear and they asked to have a look our window. They made some sarcastic comments and chuckled amongst themselves and left. They went next door to the hotel and came out of the window opposite us onto the flat roof. They had a peek in the bag and then some fat guy in a hoody stuck his head out the adjacent window and I don't know what was said. I didn't get to see if they took anyone away or what was in the bag. I got a few unexciting pictures including the guys face but I don't know if it's entirely responsible to post them here.
