Got the commonly retrofitted 5 speed too, and factory power steering, just what you want!
This one went for 1250, seemed a solid buy:

I've got one for sale for £1100 but it does need some work, on the flipside it's full of 'good' bits - like the 5 speed box, rebuilt engine & trans, SD1 heads, Luminition ignition, the correct 'S' manifolds, Facet fuel pump, etc....
Strip it out and go terrorising people!

Not unreasonable for a 20yo without any NCB on a V8 I suppose
Having had the odd go in my old man's MGB, classic cars are certainly 'interesting', sounds like a bit of classic motoring might suit the OP?
