Something isn't right here.

i used to have a amd 3400 single core 754 at 3.6ghz (clocked high for a amd ;) it was a collage project me and my friends did)

and a x850xt agp,

it used to be amazing back in the day, but id say its not that ** pc performance is getting lower, its because of all the new DX graphical details and stuff,

cause about 3 yrs ago on counterstrike source i used to get over about 200 fps+ with that old rig and now i doubt it would stay above 80 cause of all the new graphical details.

my specs right now (in my sig) my rigs not top dog but its good it can handle 99.9% of games on high even oblivion (i was amazed it could) but on oblivion it didnt get verry high fps, about 50 im guessing, i could just feel the movement lagging about 0.5 of a second befor it moved on the screen, but i never really checked fps

(bah sorry i talk on and on a lot ) :D

ah yes after all my long post i remembered what i was going to say..

my gpu was about 45c idle, graphics cards run hot if the cooling isnt good, 45c isnt nothing to worry about tho.

what i did was get some bendy thin pipe 5cm wide were it connects to the graphics cooler and then going out stretching to a 12cm end (like a tumble dryer pipe) and attached it to the cooler and then put the pipe to the side of my case were a 12cm fan was blowing cold air into the pipe and streight into the gpu and now my gpu is idle about 28-32c and my cpu temp on stock cooler is at 26-28c idle.

and both parts are overclocked my graphics card i was happy with the overclock because the stock is 450/1250 and it was able to clock high with no artifacts

Hey, back again. Thanks for the help and pointers so far guys they are much appreciated. I have no overclocked my GPU and CPU and to be quite honest I'm not really noticing the difference. My GPU is 43oc at idle and CPU is 30oc idle. It looks like I may have to consider and a new system or an upgrade :(

First try a complete reinstall. Burn the drivers for your hardware onto a CD then wipe your C Drive and reinstall windows and all the windows updates then reinstall all your hardware drivers. Install 3dm06 or 05 and check if your scores went up at all.

I think I may give that a try, I'll pick up a new HDD today actually since the one I'm using is a bit old now, and I want a new one anyway.I decided to de-clock my GPU and CPU in the end due to it becoming a bit tempermental. Once de-clocked I actually noticed that the overlocking hadn't been making any difference what so ever.

Once I have fitted my new HDD and set it all up I will post back and see if there is much of a difference. Fingers crossed there is :)

An Alternative to a format i find these days, Is running adaware, Spybot, your current virus scanner, Hijackthis and check the log in an analyzer.

And then download CCleaner and give that a run. I really found it made my computer fresher than a daisey :D

Also, I have an X800 graphics card with 512mb RAM, I'll download 3Dmark06 and get a comparison going. See what I get, Cosyou'd get a better score surely, And I've had no trouble with any games, Even oblivion. Running at 1024 by 768 of course. :)
