Something seriously wrong with my PC

So a few days ago out of the blue my graphics card decides it won't work any more. Garbled colours on the screen and code 43 errors for the drivers no matter which I install. I remove the card and am using on-board Intel 4600 for now. Today the on-board sound has given up the ghost. It sounds like the speakers have blown, really distorted sound. I swapped the speakers though and can confirm it's the on board audio.

I'm not sure if it's my motherboard that's dying, or possibly some sort of PSU/power issue? I don't have a spare of either to test.

Does anyone have any ideas? Spec's of my PC are in my sig.

Sounds like two separate faults.
Unlucky but not unusual.

Can you use digital out or a USB speaker or headphones?

If it's running OK apart from the sound I would get a cheap soundcard.

Bad sound can also be caused by poor earth's or dodgy cables.
Check your case for loose screws and that nothing got moved when you removed the gpu.

If HDMI audio is working normally then it most likely isn't the onboard sound chip that is failing since it would be using that for sound through the HDMI port (assuming that you mean the HDMI post on the motherboard).

It's possible that the connector is the only issue (if you have front panel audio set up, try plugging the speakers into that and if there isn't any distortion then that will mean that the back audio connections or at least the one for general audio out has started to fail).

Not sure on the conductivity of the coolant used in the Corsair H80 but have you checked that isn't leaking assuming as per your sig spec.

So I put a spare gtx 760 in the machine today, and it's still giving me a code 43 error when I've installed the drivers. I swapped the PSU for another one, still a code 43 error.

I'm running out of options now.

Code 43 on what?

Is that on the motherboard itself?

In device manager for the graphics card.

I did a completely fresh install of Windows 10 last night and now it's working perfectly! Can't make this stuff up.

Windows 10 **** a brick when I installed my two 1070s... It seems we're back to the days of windows 8 not particularly working when installing graphics cards. Windows is going backwards!
