Something special to do around Vancouver

My parents are going on holiday to Vancouver in September this year. My brothers and I would like to buy something for them to do on the trip. Our budget is £1500.

They're not 'flashy' people, so fancy restaurants and high end hotels are definitely not their bag. An experience/adventure is much more their thing, although they're not youngsters so things like kayaking, or having to hike 20 miles to the nearest fresh water are also a no go! Seeing nature and wildlife would be preferable over city based activities.

They're staying in Vancouver, but it's not limited to that area so could potentially bus/fly somewhere (as long as it within budget).

Possible ideas:
- Sea plane trips from Vancouver which go over the alpine lakes/glaciers, or one that connects with a whale watching ferry
- Rocky mountaineer train journey
- A remote lodge focused on grizzly bear spotting - this would be perfect, but are insanely expensive
- A log cabin in a remote and scenic location, possibly up in the mountains near Whistler
- A short cruise up towards Alaska to see Glaciers/Fjords - again, a bit overbudget

Any suggestions?

Possibly Vancouver Island? Rogers Chocolates are amazing. I also came back home with live lobsters.

When I started reading your post I thought train trough the Rockies and you me tion it as an option. Only thing is that it doesn't really stop.

You can drive into the Rockies from Vancouver, make a small loop through Banff and Jasper and be back in less than a week (3-4 days if you don't mind a lot of long drives. You don't say how much time they have there but if they've not seen the Rockies that would be my recommendation.

If they only have a day then a drive up to Whistler, stopping at the cable car in Squamish is similar but on a smaller scale. The trip (Sea to Sky highway) is pretty stunning.

Sea plane is pretty cool, think they go out of North Van, there's also some hot springs that you can get to by rib from tofino, but maybe a bit of a trek across the Island...
You can get some small boat tours to go around some of the inlets too around gibsons which is pretty interesting

I have family on Vancouver Island and I flew over in 2017 to visit them. They live near Victoria and my uncle and I went on a whale tour from the local harbour in Victoria. It was a lovely experience and we saw some killer whales. Could be worth looking into. Your parents would obviously need to get the BC Ferries service from Vancouver to the island but they'd end up in the right place for the whale boat tour.
