Just be aware if you don't buy your 2nd hand card from a VAT registered company / business you cannot claim any VAT back, but as a business you can write the card off as a business expense, perhaps you could use the 2080ti to display your accounts on your monitor....

I bought it on ebay used a site wide discount code, brought the price down to around £630ish , also used Quidoco for a few extra percent cashback, then nectar points earned too.... But the card arrived faulty, spoke to the seller, they said if I RMA'ed the card they would give me a further 10 percent back and pay the shipping cost to Poland (msi rma center) card came back, worked for a few hours, msi arranged the collection of the card, they swapped out the card and returned to me and since then the replacement card has been working great...... But the price did come with a few hurdles to jump, but I knew it would be worth it in the end, plus I had my 1080ti at the time... it was just a waiting game.

Doubt we will see anything like that for the consumer market anytime soon, good approach though for the Volta type chips it could significantly improve yields and GP's.

Continuation of Einstein I believe (though won't be a GPU released under that name AFAIK) more closely related to Xavier/Volta. Not very applicable to gaming in this form but a step along the way to making that possible.

I don't think we will see next gen 7nm until next year 2020 from NV, the thing with upgrades is there is always new gen round the corner, if next gen was here now, would you wait for a A chip variant, would you wait 9 months for another super variant. the hype train starts, gets built up to speculation and wish full thinking.
By the time the next gen is ready there should be more demanding games for them to sparkle in. I say don't wait just buy what you can afford and enjoy your games. there is always a next gen around the corner.

Agree completely but you still have to balance things up. Sometimes more than others it probably makes more sense to wait it out. Currently we have a gen that is a bit of a taster for RT and a move to 7nm likely to a better leap in general performance and/or RT performance (much needed). We're already 9 months into the 20 series and also 6 months of 2019 already gone(wow, already?). All depends on what games people are playing, whether happy with current GPU performance and whether excited by RT atm I guess, and of course if they offered more competitive pricing along with the super performance.
Will be 2020 for next gen and probably 2nd quarter is my guess.

We usually get done on the conversion so perhaps £699inc and 'free' delivery for a 2080S.

For an 8GB Card which is 2fps faster stock-for-stock over a 1080ti FE in my favourite game Total War. It will probably draw more power also.

Those used, custom 1080ti's will look mighty tempting in the MM simply because you get the same deal, with more VRAM, triple fans and save 200-300 sheets.

Exactly and the 200-300£ can just be put towards next years release.
the 699£ model will end up costing me £550 so I'll end up saving around £100 by going with a 1080ti second hand as the going rate for them still seems a tad inflated at 450.
I'm holding a bit of hope to see what happens to the current 2080s. It would be nice if they get a bit of a price cut.

I'm guessin the 2080S is going to get a bit of a performance boost though surely to pull further away from the 1080ti?

My next rig build might be an AMD 3600 + a 2080/s. Seems like half decent value for 4k or 1440p ultrawide gaming with the ability to upgrade the 3600 in a year or two.
