Been thinking of trying something new,Im into electronics etc and want to learn more.

What would you guys recommend in terms of like DIY kits which you assemble yourself? i was thinking of getting a Nixie Tube clock,They're kind of on the expensive side though,Unsure why? i expect because of the tubes but yeah,Anything else you guys would recommend :)

I already have a Soldering gun,Solder etc. :)

looked at Arduino? not sure how complex, or simple they are but keep meaning to look more into them myself. maybe you could do that legwork for me :p

apologies in advance if that's only kids stuff but some of the kits on amazon and that look pretty interesting.

While currently I'm working through this if I do get some down time I'm gonna go back to my headphone amplifier (opamp) experiments - I have a nice design for a pseudo-balanced amp that drives the likes of the Sennheiser HD600 nicely but never got around to building a complete amp around the final incarnation of it.

There's a few videos on youtube and other kits which walk you through building an 8-bit computer from stratch, if that's your thing.

There's tons of great kits out there. Arduino is good to play around with, especially if you have a project in mind. My last arduino project was to control a roller shutter door at work with remote controls, which was a great learning experience of the coding, RF receiver modules, relays etc.

On a sort of related note does anyone know of a downloadable repository that has a collection of datasheets for common electronics components like 555 timers, LM317 (though I've used that one so much I practically have a photographic memory of the datasheet), various transistors, etc.? would be handy to load up one of my tablets with them if I do get stuck into a project rather than search for them all the time as the need arises.
