Something wrong with my Box

Im trying to login to XBL and for some reason when I switch the box on - instead of seeing the Live blade, i just see an xbox with dots spinning around it - its like this for all but 2 of the other blades and Ive tried restarting the box, nothing works! It does say how many friends are online however!

Before I was playing the burnout paradise demo just fine, I went off it - went back on when when i press start at the splashscreen, it locks up! Yet somehow I can still hear my mate on private chat but I cant press the middle button?

Anyone know what to try/what to do? This is a brand new xbox I got last night as a replacement, has been working fine for about 12 hours and now this?!
 
sounds like what happened to me last night......
cod4 froze mid game then i had to restart the xbox, youre symptoms are exactly what happened on mine so i left it for 10-15 minutes (or around that) and then everything was fine...mine had been on for quite some time aswell so im taking it as an overheating issue and hope everythings okay.
 
sounds like live is going very very slow to me. its been like this for me since the video marketplace went live. eventually loading up.

Ah thanks guys I got it working again, I reset my router of all things! I had to re-download the burnout demo though as that kept freezing on the splashscreen - seems fine now though
 
Mine was doing this after the dashboard update, I just put it down to Xbox Live being slow but its very annoying and poor implementation that the screen doesnt load *** static items and then just update when the data from Xbox Live is received for things like your friends list and messages. Noticed a lot of people mention it so its not an isolated case.
