OK,this is my first build and ive just finished putting it together, when i turn the system on it cuts out straight away,i cant hear any beeps and im not really sure whats wrong. But i know its not the graphics card.

Motherboard is Asus P5Q pro, prosessor is intel e8400

Tiem to check that power cables are attached firmly, go to minimum config (drop peripherals like drives) and then remove motherboard and make sure standoffs are in correct positions and there's nothing shorting motherboard.

650w corsair,I think everything is connected correctly. It started up once and everything was detected but i dont know why its not working now.

Ok brb 10 mins will do that now.

Ok thats all done, but still nothing. The mother board light is on and so are the 2 red lights on the graphics card.

Have you tried clearing the CMOS..........? When i built my brothers computer it wouldnt work and i tried everything including trial and error. In the end i removed the battery/cleared the CMOS and everything worked fine :)

LOL P5Q there is nothing but bad news about that broad in these forums, starting to think with the problems i've had with it that i should have gone for something else lol!!

HOW HAVE YOU CONNECTED YOUR RAM?

AND DO ANY FANS SPIN?

the broad look good and has all the right fetures, and i'am sure if it works without hitch that it will be amzaing is every single way, however still waiting to get to that stage lol......anyway back to the topic, check that there is ony 1 RAM socket in, and try again, if that works then we can talk about ow to insert the others lol!

Check that your hsf are seated correctly. My first computer build (P4 3.06Ghz) did the same thing, however it turned out the the CPU fan clip hadn't been pushed all the way down, pushing it clipped it into place and low and behold, the PC ran perfectly until it was disassembled again (now sitting in my sister's PC, running nicely).
