Was quietly watching a dvd on pc last nite when it promptly died and threw the house trip switch.

I've tried changing fuse in hope it was just blown but no:mad:

It's totally dead

So what's the most likely culprit? psu? Should I take a component out one by one to see if it'll turn on? Could I have fried my motherboard:eek:

Edit:: Ye the fans connected direct to PSU via Molex won't even spin so it leads me to believe it's the PSU

through the house trip switch? have you tryed another wall plug as well? although its probably the psu ive had plugs die on me before. Dont use the one next to it as they are both on the same circuit, try plugging it in to a plug in anothe room or easyer just try plug somthing else into the same plug to see if it works.

If you have a 4 pin fan, you can try hooking that up to the PSU and then jump starting your PSU to rule out the motherboard (and everything else actually.

There's an article on how to do that over at here

My guess would be the PSU in which case the fan shouldn't spin, but if it does then the next most likely culprit will be the motherboard.

And no it ain't workin in any other sockets & my monitor works fine out of that socket so...it's a pc problem
