I usually find shorting the 360 works well, I did it purely by mistake when I bought a mislabelled EU standard power brick. Sent it to MS afterwards and they gave a new 360 (Yes new, i did check the casing and serial number). I then complained more that now my power brick didn't work because of the 3 RROD issue, and they proceeded to send that and a controller charger pack because india got confused!

All in all, i think it was worth breaking the console by mistake! lol.

Most places won't take a core without a memory card
