Hi there, been lurking for a fair while but finally made an account.

Last year I bought a system consisting of -

Intel Q6600 @ 2.4Ghz
Nvidea 8800GT 512
2GB Corsair XMS2 DDR2
2x 250GB no name HDDs (I know, I know, they are up to speed though)
Asus P5K Mobo

Now this ran everything smoothly on my old 19" monitor but at Christmas time I upgraded to a 24inch Dell monitor running 1900 x 1080. To counter this I change the following-

Q6600 @ 3.0Ghz
Powercolour HD4870 1GB
4GB Kingston HyperX DDR2 (Windows sees 3 and a bit)
Same HDDs.
Same Asus P5K

Now everything ran great, TF2 max setting without it really dipping below 50Fps, Far Cry2, Fallout 3, GTAIV all ran well, with the exception of GTA on near max settings with minimal slowdown/popup etc.

Until a few days ago, now I've had to drop my AA, AF and Texture settings to see the right side of 50 in heavy TF2 combat and Far Cry 2 has shadows popping up more than ever before at lower settings, the same for FO3.

Everything seems within reasonable temps but I think the CPU might be a little high at 45ish Idle and about 60 - 65 max when playing something CPU intensive. The GPU maxed at 84 on a FurMark stress test and is usually around 55 - 60 idle (not sure about load in games). HDDs are at about 35.

Stock coolers on everything, I'm suspecting it might be heat, the GPU produces a huge amount, maybe not in the core but is dissipates a huge amount into the case which has terrible air flow, I'm planning to change all the cooling over the next few days but I thought I'd see if anyone had any ideas as to what might be wrong.

Anything else, screens of CPU Z, GPU Z etc if needed I'll get some up later on.

erm when was the last time u cleaned your case out?

what case do you own?

summer weather doesnt do PCs any favours had to put my cpu down a bit because of the weather 40c idle isnt comfortable:(

I cleaned my case out last night, thoroughly cleaned the CPU fan, GPU fan etc.

Its one of these, I have no idea what its called, its cramped and frankly pretty poor for air circulation.
