I've made a couple of threads before, no one probably remembers but I like to write stuff in my spare time, I quite fancy myself to be a screen writer someday, thats the only thing I can see myself doin and bein happy.

Anyway, was bored last night and was lookin round on imdb for some actor or somethin when I decided to look on imdbpro. My flatmate has got a password for this, I think its his dads. I logged in a found these message boards looking for people to get involved in any project they might have goin, investors mainly but sometimes actors, producers etc. most stuff really.

I found an advert in the midst of all the american adverts explaining that they were making a film in the North West of England later this year and into next I think and they were looking for producers, managers etc. that kind of thing.

It had an email address at the bottom and seeing as I am in the North West of England I sent the guy an email asking if there were anythin available just for someone like me on the project. I have no experience so I explained I am an "aspiring screenwriter struggling to break into the industry" and would love to do anythin from an extra to a runner.

Anyway, despite the clichés I sent it off not really expecting much of it.

Next thing, less than 12 hours later:

Hi

We are always grateful for any additional participation. We would be delighted to afford for you to work with us as an extra but if possible, let's try to get
you involved in something that you want to do, have a passion for, and get you recognised in the industry.

I will have Paul Walker, Assistant Director, contact you soon and assist you with your request.

Sincerely,

Richard Stephens. Director.

So I was thinkin how mint is this?

Then:

Thank you for your recent interest in 'Sleeper – the story of a spy'.

We have received, and are continuing to receive a high volume of CV's, headshots and showreels which we are in the process of discussing and evaluating.

If at all possible could you send me a copy of your CV for our records - as your experience in the industry may be minimal please include all aspects of work so that we might find you a role which would better suit your experience and previous job roles whilst still giving you expereince on a set.

Kindest Regards,

Paul Walker

(Assistant Director)

So just sendin my CV off today and then gonna see what happens, not sayin this is gonna lead somewhere or anythin but still, I've always wanted to get involved with films and now it seems I might get a little bit of experience to see if I really do want to do it or not.

I may update this thread if anythin happens with this.

It's always nice to see people chasing their dreams. I'd love to be an actor one day but it's just getting round to doing something about it. Got exams etc going on at the moment so can't really.

Good luck anyway, mate! :)

cheers guys, I know it could and probably will lead nowhere, but even if it does then its a step in the right direction at least.

The film they're making is called Sleepers and it has Jason Connery in.

If it leads nowhere you just have to keep trying, it could be a start at the very bottom sort of job, but worth it for the experience.

Just keep trying. I'm sure there's loads of actors, screen writers, directors etc who once thought they would never make it. It may take a year, it may take 10 but if you stick with it, there's a good chance you could make it :)

Yeah, you read about these now famous folk who spent years hunting for a break before they got anywhere.

Never ever give up.:)
