Been playing this last night and today and I just have to say its exceptionally fun to play.

Long loading times, lots of them aswell, fps drop during some ingame mid level cutscences on the city level. Normally this would bother me but to be honest I do not really care.

The game is quite basic and does not really bring anything new to the table yet I am having a blast playing this, as is my mate at this very moment.

Its not perfect, but it certainly does not deserve its 6/10 and 4/10 ratings it has been getting, having much more fun playing this than any title on the 360 since March. :D

I am hopeless at the game (along with anything on a console) but its just so much fun! WIll be asking for help later as it takes me five or more goes to work out how to defeat a boss.

This is classic Sonic, nothing as revolutionary as when it first came out but its got that magic to it that the previous titles in 3D just have not had with me. Great fun while being rubbish in every other department.

Anyone else given it a go?

The 360 demo sucked major-style, controls were horrid and the levels seemed uninspiring.

Not played the full game, but I hope a few things were changed.

I love Sonic, so I tried the demo, but I really didn't like it. I don't like the controls at all, for some reason it uses the analogue stick but he seems to only move in 4 directions. I found it difficult to know where I was supposed to be going, and the thing with the eagle was just stupid, it seems to have come from nowhere.
I really wanted to like it, but I don't think it's something I can get into. It's not a huge surprise to me though, as I generally don't like 3D versions of platformers. For some reason I played Sonic Adventure DX a lot, but the controls on it actually seemed better than this :(.

In my opinion the only platformer that ever really did well in 3D was Mario. Super Mario 64 remains one of his best!

Don't get me wrong, I would love for Sonic to work but hated the demo :( Did you try that out and is the game any better?

Cheers

I didn't play this version but I played the Sonic Adventure 1 & 2 on Dreamcast.

The problem with Sonic and 3D just don't work together. Sonic is so too fast for the user to control in 3D environment. How can you really kill a enemy/dodge enemy at the speed of sound????

I think Sega/Sonic Team should stop wasting their time with Sonic and give us Nights into Dreams 2 or Burning Rangers 2.

I can make him move in about 16 directions quite easily.

Did not touch the demo and only had control issues with tails flying.

May just be me and my love of any platform game that is playable, certainly worth a rental though, im 2/3 of the way through the story in about 8 hours, although Sonic is about getting top rank on every stage.

Apart from Kameo and Sonic are there any other platformers on the 360?

It may well be an issue with the demo then. I didn't notice that it was a control issue until my boyfriend took over and pointed it out, I just noticed the movement felt awkward. I've seen the game in a booth recently, so I might head down and check it out there, hopefully it won't be the same demo.

I don't think there are many (if any) other platformers, as that's not really what the 360 has be marketed towards. I was actually really surprised to see Sonic on this. If you like platformers, you need to get yourself a Wii ;).

i really like the demo. i'll be getting the full game when a bit of cash comes my way!

I am getting a Wii, but only a couple coming out for it initially. :(

360 for racing games aswell with a bit of footie on the side!

Just love my platformers, even if its a b-grade spongebob game I just enjoy them.

I am downloading the demo now to see if its the same game. :p

I have to say, the new Sonic is probably one of the worst games I've got for my 360

The loading times are like something from the PS1 era and the game has the most fustrating camera I've ever come across. As for the voice acting...

I'll give you an example of how bad the loading is;

Insert game
Load
Main Menu, Select Char
Load
Run to first point the game to meet Tails
Load
Cutscene for 10s
Load
Run to another guy 2 seconds away and talk to him
Load
Another 10s cutscene
Load
Do set mission
Load
Another 10s cutscene
Load
Back to main arena to continue to the next task.

I wouldn't be so bothered, but the loading takes some 10-15 seconds each time!

3/10 here.

I love the Sonic games and got the demo and I tried really hard to like it but I found the controls really dodgy and the camera made my eyes hurt :(

WatchTower: The Mega Collection is great. Though it did burn Score, Time and Rings into my bfs HD TV

There should be some more in time, it wouldn't be Nintendo otherwise :). Please report back if the demo is the same or if the controls have dramatically changed!

Hi,

From the demo the thing that annoyed me was the camera. to turn it you used Right Analog Stick (I think) and it panned tghe camera really realllllly slowly. Has this been fixed for the retail copy you have?

Instead of trying to make a new 3D Sonic Game and failing why don't they make a new 2D one?, would love to see a complete new massive 2D sonic game. The only good sonic game thats come out since the Dreamcast days is Sonic Rush on the DS, all others have failed

The camera is still slow to move, but I have only ever found myself using the left trigger to put the camera behind my guy, I find I tap this a lot.

Almost completed Sonic's story now and it is good fun if you take it for what it is.

£40 for it I am struggling to justify but if you can get it for £30 or lower like I did then it is good fun. The demo is downloading after Lego Star Wars 2 is complete so should not be that long now. :)

The game has its niggles but I just love how fast you can do everything, the loading times as said are a little long and tedious at some points.

(Best loading ever, 20 seconds loading for a guy to say "well done sonic!" then load again to load the level. :p)

Its probably just me, I rate King Kong as one of the best titles I have played on the 360 aswell.

I think that something a la The New Super Mario Bros would be awesome, but I guess most people don't want "old" style games on their shiny new next-gen consoles. I didn't really like Sonic Rush either, it was too fast to actually do anything in the level.

You sound like this is the first 3d sonic game you've played.

They've always had camera problems but Sonic Adventure 2 was really great. That was the only game that managed to capture his speed and even then, it had a lot of flaws

I suggest Lego Starwars II - Its suprisingly fun.

Got ep4 perfected, was working on Ep5 when a load of other games came out and got in the way.

The flying bits are abit of a letdown but overall its very good.

Grab the demo.
