Sonicwall TZ210 and Virgin Media

Hi

We just had the VM 100 meg service fitted. Using just the VM superhub we were getting 70meg down/10 meg up.

Once the superhub was put in modem mode and connected to the Sonicwall the speed has dropped to 15meg down/10 meg up.

What could be causing this?
 
The TS210 has the following spec

Feature Value
Stateful Throughput3 200 Mbps
UTM Performance4 50 Mbps
Gateway Anti-Virus Throughput4 70 Mbps
Intrusion Prevention Throughput4 110 Mbps

If you have all the UTM stuff turned on, that may be about right - given that performance figures are always hugely optimistic for the real world

That firewall isnt properly sized for a 100mb connection

That's a shame having to lose 40 meg of download :(

Depends what services are enabled, packet size, other load etc etc

But really you need to think about these things before upgrading internet connections - bigger firewalls should be part of the business case if they are needed
