SONOS stuttering

Hi, my SONOS music playback seems to have started stuttering. All the music is stored in Apple lossless on a Synology DS415+. Network connectivity goes something like this:

Wireless route: Synology > HP Managed Switch (via 2GB LACP) > ASUS RT-N66U > Play:1 in Kitchen | Two Play:1's upstairs in my man cave
Wired route: Synology > HP Managed Switch (via 2GB LACP) > HP Procurve unmanaged switch > SONOS Connect

It doesn't seem to matter which Play:1 I stream to, be it grouped, un-grouped I will get the stuttering.

I need to check, but I am fairly certain it happens when I stream to my Amp via the Connect.

It seems to point to my wireless network or my Synology, however I get good speed on my Mac all around the house, and the Synology is not showing any signs of struggle at all.

Does SONOS produce any type of logs at all?

Do some basic checks first. Are the Sonos players all running the latest software? Reconnect (pair) them to the system again.

Next, power-off any wireless players and just use the one connected via Ethernet. Play some music. Does it stutter? Reboot (power cycle) your NAS, the router and that Sonos player. Retest, does it still stutter?

My first thoughts are this is wireless interference. It could be from something in your house or a neighbours. Perhaps you or they bought a new wideband (40MHz) router which is now swamping the wireless bands, or maybe someone is using a wireless video sender. Does your router (or possibly your neighbour's) have a fixed Wi-Fi channel or does it channel hop for best connection. Use the Sonos Controller app to check which channel the SonosNet is running. Is this clashing with your wireless network?

Submit a diagnostic to Sonos when you are having problems and follow it up with a call to a Sonos support so that they can have a look at the signal/interference (the diagnostics contain a lot of information about the system and wireless mesh performance).

Thanks Lucid, I will have a look this evening at re-pairing everything. The problem is that it is pretty intermittent so it will be hard to reproduce the fault. Sometimes I will get several hours of uninterrupted music, other times it's constant for 5 minutes.

My router sits on its own channel, I don't think it hops, it's set to auto - I'll get a wifi scanner out tonight and have a look, never even thought of that.

If the router is set to Auto then it will hop about when it detects other wireless signal sources on the same channel. SonosNet operates in the same frequency space as other wireless devices. In fact, all free-to-use wireless devices use the same channel space, either in the 2.4GHz B/G bands or 5GHz N band. So if something else is either hogging too much space or hopping about then other wireless devices will suffer.

Let us know what you find.

My home network looks to be on Channel 6, which is what SONOS was set to. My neighbours are all on 1 or 2, so I've set SONOS to channel 11.
