Son's first build: £550-£600, spec please

Thanks for the help so far. Have had a go at it myself and the system isn't as powerful, nor as upgradeable. Compromised a bit here and there as wanted to get better speakers as son likes using a headset and the ones i picked he can plug straight into them. Any thoughts? Will it all work together? What amendments could be made in the graphics card area? That card i picked any good?

P.S, if I was a teenager right now, I'd be royally ****ed off if my parents bought me a PC with an Athlon or Phenom CPU

I'd try and stick to P67 and a 'k' series CPU as a minimum (are there any dual core K series chips?).

Heres my suggestion, though it costs £680.

IMO you should increase the budget to £700 if you also need a monitor + windows:

No, Only the 2500k, 2600k and 2700k all Quad core.
