Sony a6000 or a6300

If anyone's looking to buy a Sigma 16mm F1.4 take a look at amazon germany. I just got one delivered for £394. Big saving on UK prices. Awesome lens.

That’s an amazing price, cheers for the heads up. I am definitely after that as my next lens, but still have to save the pennies for a while....

Hey. It was a big expense for me too but I wanted to get one before the initial production run was over and then, y'know, they start dishing out the B grades after everyone raves (it happens)

Anyways. Looking at your flickr link you obviously have a very good eye. Some nice stuff there. FE 28mm F2? TBH it was a coin flip between that lens and the Sigma for me.

Nice example you appear to have.

But wider is better ;-)

Cheers! I really need to update my Flickr, its been ages... yeah I love the 28mm FE, it pretty much lives on my camera all the time.

Totally agree about the 16mm Sigma, I really need a wide lens in my setup. How are you finding it so far? What camera body are you using it on?

Using it on an A6000. Balances quite well and it really helps to be able to hold everything steadier. Hand held Macro shots are much much easier.

As for landscapes and street etc? We have a trip to Central America and Japan coming up later this year. I really do need to get some practice in before then which is the real reason for buying it TBH.

Wow, are they really that much in UK/ Eur?

I just paid $669 NZ$ for my Sigma 16 1.4 here in New Zealand, that's about UK£340, i also got the Sony FE 70-300 G OSS for $2120 (£1100)

I guess not everything here in NZ is expensive :D

Hmm I was looking into getting the A6000 or 6300 as my first serious camera....not so sure now there doesn’t seem to be a good selection of lenses for it! :(
I totally agree with the lack of lenses, however Sigma are doing a lot to remedy that... the 16mm and 30mm f/1.4 lenses are amazing. If you are after a decent native zoom lens however I would maybe look at Fuji, even their kit lens is meant to be quite good.
I will say this though, the a6300 and 6500 are great cameras if you are happy with the lenses on offer.

I wonder who will buy the A6500 when the A73 offers so much more for a little a more money.
For a mere £500 more I agree with you, it looks like its 95% of an A9 for a fraction of the cost. Although I do like the rangefinder style of the 6000 series - just waiting for a FF version :)

Its kind of crazy. If the a6500 doesn't have a flip screen, they've probably cannibalised their APSC range with the A7r3 OR they will have to re-price the entire a6xxx range.

Given Sony seem to not give a care in the world about their APSC lens lineup... hmmm.....

At least Sigma seem to give a rat's **** about Sony's APSC lineup/customers, even if Sony don't!

Ok now it works out at £365 (€410) - which as you can already work out is cheaper than not buying it... plus my brother lives out there and is coming over in 7 days....

Well well. Contrary to what I'd read elsewhere about Sigma UK not honouring the 3 year warranty if a lens is bought from Amazon I have just registered my Lens on Sigmas German site and it was accepted instantly.

Hopefully I'll never need to send it back to Germany but at least it's covered for 3 years now.

BTW You only have 8 weeks to register after purchase for the extra 2 years.
