Not sure I can link to the article as I'm pretty sure there was a falling out between OCUK and the site, but here's the story....

(Not sure why but I've had to use multiple quotes to make it work :( )

Another day, another blow for Sony, as it emerged that developer of Tony Hawk's Project 8, Neversoft, would not be supporting online play in the anticipated upcoming skate-em-up.

The game, which looks stunning, is set to be multi-platform. Here is the official word from Neversoft:

"Neversoft is confident the PS3 version of the game will ship at launch in November, but it still hasn't received all of the software libraries and has no indication of how the online components will work on PS3, so it's not offering them."

It is truly remarkable how many failures Sony has managed to rack up in such a short space of time. Considering Neversoft was the first company to offer online play on the flawed Playstation 2 network service back in 2001, it really does beg the question: If Neversoft can't get online to work for Playstation 3, then who can?

Don't get too upset about missing out on some online multiplayer skating action though. Neversoft has promised that the Xbox 360 version of the game will work through the Xbox Live service. Once again proving that Microsoft's universal multiplayer service, Xbox Live is far better than Sony's: 'we let the publisher decide' bodge job. Considering how critical online play really is to the modern gaming market Sony is looking in worse and worse shape with every passing week.

Oh dear :p

Wow tony hawks 8 isn't going to be online Im sure the ps3 is doomed, it's such an A* game series that gamers love (not).

Actually the ps2 was the first console to offer dolby digital, progressive scan and high-def, it also supports voice com.

So MS might have refined a lot of a lot of it, and made it easier and a bit more accessable, but they sure didnt pioneer it

One person having it and it being widely rolled out are two different things ;)

Oh, and 'A lot' is two words. Sorry, just a pet hate :D

Just remembered the DC online thing, was that the silly mouse game thing, Chu Chu Rocket wasn't it? Seem to remember not being able to buy it and having to order it from Sega. Might be my memory playing tricks again.

Oh i know its a bad habbit i never grew out of, i am a terrible speller :( u may have guessed lol

Wasn't having a go matey, just something that riles me :)

BTW, when I started this thread it wasn't to start more Sony Vs MS rubbish. I just think it's amazing the number of things that have gone wrong with the launch.

I remember when all the Sony guys were laughing at the MS shortages at launch and saying it was bad. Think I'd rather struggle to find one than it just not be here. :p

Was the voice com on the PS2 implemented after Xbox Live was introduced though? I can't remember.

Live on the xbox and SOCOM on the PS2 were VERY close if I remember right, cos I seem to remember having PGR2 and SOCOM and thinking how the PGR2 experience just felt more polished.
