Sony developing hack-proof PlayStation 3? (£186)

As of 2009 virgins network covered about 12.5 million homes (near enough 50%) and they were about to start adding another 500k. But that only means that its available. Most people I think will probably still be on 10mb as most don't need anything faster. Some do, but most don't.

We can't get it here :(

If you believe the advertising :)

Personally I dont know anyone in any city or in big towns that has the option of having Virgin

Even so - my question still stands, very few PS3 (or even console in general) owners actually have anything above a standard 8mb adsl connection (which at best will probably be about 3- 4mb lol)

The majority of intenet users cannot even get a 20mb connection even if they wanted.....well they could if they had a few hundred a month spare but lets not go off track too much.

Its not THAT expensive lol - but compared to adsl pricing its pretty steep yes :)

Holy crap, even i, the type of person who really doesn't mind invasion or privacy that much, find that a little too invasive.

EDIT

Actually, it's not as invasive as i initially assumed:

Rather, the subpoena document suggests that Sony wants to discover the number and location of the downloaders in order to establish jurisdiction in its case against Mr Hotz.

So they basically just want to figure out the rough amount of people that have obtained this through him, in order to give their court case against him more weight.

they can build new ps3's all they want but unless they ban all old ps3's from online and offer a free swap scheme, they cant ensure hack free online gaming.

i doubt this would be financially viable to do so and bankrupt sony therefore, any new console they make which is hack proof is useless as hackers would just buy old ps3's from ebay instead.

Actually Sonys legal dept obtained the info for use of the courts and lawyers only. Its to determine if the court case can be done in California, if no one from that area looked at that then the court case will have to be done elsewhere. Heard that this is fairly normal practice in this type of case and anyone who went to that site should worry no personal info will be shown just links to show IP address geographical location.
As for the hackers themselves it sounds like its nowhere close to being as major issue as first thought due to the latest FW and all the new PSN hole closures.

I don't think console piracy is worth the hassle at all I really don't know why they get so miffed over it.
Probably 1% of their customers pirate and wouldn't buy the games anyway whether they were pirated or not.

As far as I can see even the 360 is a pain in the behind constantly having to switch and swap or upgrade firmwares etc etc etc every time a new game comes out.

I think as long as you are prepared to wait a few months you can pretty much get any game for £10-£15 second hand.
