Nice to see them using a different OS. I have the Xperia X1 and as stock it's pretty poor and I was quite disappointed considering how much I paid for it.

A bit of an update on information about the SE Rachael/X3/X10 Snapdragon + Android Mobile:

GHacks.net summary of SE X3

This site basically sums up all the leaked information floating around the internet about this new phone, and suggests Sony will unvail this on the 3rd of Nov using this site: SE:What's next?

I was going to get the Satio, but cancelled my order due to not wanting to be tied into a long contract resulting in being unable to upgrade to this... it better hurry up and get released... and it better be worth it!

I read its due in Feb 2010.

Yeah all the things I've read suggest an early 2010 release date, although going on the previous releases of flagship SE phones I wouldn't be suprised if it was delayed a couple more months...

It will be nice to finally get clarification from SE on Nov 3rd about specs and release dates and such though, rather than speculation.

I'm still rather confused as to what happens with the X2? Will they still be releasing it if they unleash this beast? I suppose they released the Satio and Aino together, maybe the X3 and X2 will be done the same way... One top end and expensive, the other mediocre and... well not cheap, but cheaper.

Or maybe they will call the X3 something completely different and release both seperately to avoid comparison, but I still do not see why someone would purchase the X2 when the X3 is far superior...

X2 will of course still be released, its WinMo not Android.
One of the Android sites now thinks it'll be out before year end. We'll know more in a week

This looks like the phone i've been waiting for. Hope the tariffs are good and it doesnt come on some bendy network.

This does look good. As long as its not too expensive, i may get one.

Haven't you just got the Satio? Do you upgrade or just purchase the phones? Because I wanted to upgrade to the Satio untill I read about this phone so I cancelled my order as they wouldn't let me upgrade again till the end of the new contract which would have been a year and a half away!

Do you upgrade? And if so, how would you go about swapping the Satio for this as I would have thought you would be locked into a contract and therefore to do so you would be charged virtually the same price as buying the handset seperately? I wish I could justify spending so much on a handset so I can upgrade to the Satio now and then buy the Xperia when it is released... :(

I am hoping sub £500 not on a contract.

I see from this comment that you just purchase the phones, I am debating doing the same...

I've seen pre-order prices at £599 already on some dodgy sites, which is basically what the pre-order prices were for most of the P-series phones (although I think the P990 was slightely higher...) but when they came out you could grab them off ebay for between 400-600 depending on your luck and in shops they were all around the £500 mark offline.

I have a feeling this one won't be as expensive though as they would be trying to appeal to a wider market... just my thoughts anyway.

Yup :D

The Satio was taken on a new contract as my old contract had expired, so ive got a while before this one is due for a upgrade. So i would be buying the Xerpia offline if i was to purchase it. However, i am going to be waiting for a few solid reviews yet before going ahead. On a seperate note, i am over the moon with my Satio. It does every thing i am after, it just has the annoying Vodafone firmware on it which seems to slow down the phone. Fingers crossed the de-brand option should be released soon.

Yeah I too fell in love with the Satio months back and was eagerly awaiting it's launch, I even postponed my upgrade for 4 months just so I could get the Satio but due to reasons unknown (let's say fate) Voda effd up my order and it got delayed, during that delay I found out about the SE Rachael so I cancelled my order and convinced my sister to get the Satio instead so I can still have a play with it... still, I want a new phone as quick as I can but now I'm putting my upgrade off even longer for the Xperia!

In regards to waiting for positive reviews before purchasing, I used to think I should do this before I purchased all my previous SE smartphones (P800, P900, P910, P990, W960...) but the little kid in me could never wait and I always got them asap. Never once was I disappointed though, they all had minor bugs in but the firmware upgrades ALWAYS made the phones perfect.

BUT I did avoid the Xperia (X1) because a friend got his before me and using it I realised it wasn't the phone I expected it to be so I didn't upgrade to it... I'm not sure if it had any problems which a firmware update wouldn't solve but it was more the windows mobile aspect I didn't like... I prefered the outdated Symbian. Hopefully this new Android 2.0 will not have the same effect...

I think that's pushing it. The X1 retailed at around £550-£600 sim free at first release, same with other similar phones (HTC HD, Touch Pro 1/2) soi'm guessing it'll be a similar amount. Not too far over £500 however.

Only things that are a bit crap about the xperia is the reception and the camera.

I stripped mine to bare WM (no panels) and set it up with a nice today screen and some custom apps and it would suck to live without it... the touchscreen works a treat, nice high res display, with a couple of minor tweaks the OS runs very fast and responsive and has only crashed once in almost a year of having it. Love the hardware qwerty keyboard as well... coupled with opera mobile and skyfire it makes for a decent mobile internet experience.
