I believe the lock will remain on the handset. The debranding will work on any Xperia X10 handset. Its worth taking a backup of your own firmware before hand incase of any problems later.

I thought T-Moblie handsets where completely untouched?

It was a typo mate, R1FA016 is correct.

On the MicroSD card there is a file called default-capability.xml this has all the information about the phones branding etc...

Another X10 update.

http://www.simbasics.co.uk/sony-ericsson-xperia-x10-to-get-multi-touch-and-android-2-1/6304

One of the few drawbacks to the excellent Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 is its slightly dated 1.6 version of Android and lack of support for multi-touch, but this could change according to Sony Ericsson.

At the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 press launch the Ericsson rep responded to the criticisms of the outdated OS by mentioning a “very big update” was due in Q2 of 2010. A very big update leads us to believe that the X10 will get Android 2.1.

Multi-touch is also anticipated as the limitations aren’t believed to be hardware based, and is believed to be something on the cards and an update is also expected for this drawback.

The Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 is still an advanced smartphone that has a 8.1 megapixel camera (with geotagging, image stabiliser, 16x digital zoom, smile detection, facial recognition), 1Gb memory and 4″ touchscreen.

The X10 handset is available on the link through all the big networks and free from £30 per month with Vodafone and available with up to £60 auto cashback.

The Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 features a stunning 4.0 inch touchscreen display which employs capacitive technology for a more intuitive user experience.

The Xperia X10 runs the Android operating system letting you download apps from the Android Market and access Google content on your phone. Timescape puts your contacts and communications into one place so you can start up a conversation via SMS and continue it by email. The X10 sports an 8.1 Megapixel camera with multiple face detection and autofocus, HSDPA and Wi-Fi, GPS, 1GB internal memory and a memory card slot.

Does anybody know if the camera will have a flash when it has been updated to 2.1?

Also do 3rd party cables not work with the X10? I have another micro usb cable (non sony ericsson) and it won't charge my phone or connect it to my pc!

1/ No sure about the flash with 2.1 update.

2/I am using a Nokia Micro USB cable and that seems to work fine. I am going to get a Nokia AC-10X charger at lunch as this has a 1100ma power rating so it should mean faster charging. The SE Charger is only rated at 700ma and a standard USB port is 500ma.

My cable doesn't seem to do anything! It's as if nothing is plugged in!

I'll have a look for the Nokia charger. Anything to charge the X10 faster is a bonus considering how often it needs charging! Can't wait to get the baseband update!

i've tried to update my phone after i delete db folder, then go to se/update folder and run the exe turn my phone off etc try to update then go back to the db/blob folder i do not see the same name files or sizes as pictured in the tutorial all the files are called " ICON_275288907_1175157076000 " etc i dont know where i am going wrong.

You have to re install the software instead of exiting. On the screen where it says " You have the latest software"
This will then add the files to the DB folder that you need to change.
Hope that helps.
