You have to feel for American X10 users - 3 months on and no word from SE about 2.1

The X10a has had the 2.1 update since November. What article conveniently misses out is its not SE's fault intact its AT&T for not approving the firmware. However, as normal most people are quick to blame SE as normal.

Somewhere in the call settings options...on another note, did the X10's ever get that multitouch update that they were gonna get..ive never recieved any updates since i updated to 2.1, including the one several of you guys got and i didnt lol.

Gfs X10 seems slow and buggy again shes on 2.1 update 1 baseband 2.0.49.

WHats the best ROM for us to use where everything works nice and smooth?

Thanks

yes multitouch is out via seus

cant find the option in call settings.

also only certain numbers are barred????:confused:

Thats odd, its where it ought to be, but maybe its in the phonebook options or specfic contacts..as i know you can block a certain contact as ive done that to several....and as for the update on seus, ive just plugged my phone in and says ive got the latest lol, bugger it.

Ok quick question guys - Z4root has totally disapeared, what on earth do i need now to root the phone easily. Just updated the firmware and need to get rid of moxier and all that crap again.

Ok just another question guys, updated firmware to the latest one Zeus gave me, now the notifaction bar when I pull it down it says no service, is that normal as I cant remember. Phone works as normal from what I can tell lol.

More disappointing news been reported by xibinim shocker :o:p:p

I was starting to get suspicious as to why nothing had been mentioned.

Sony Ericsson confirms DLNA not coming to Xperia X10 family

However there are 3rd party apps that can do DNLA.

This so called 'big UXP update' hasn't been that big - the changes to TS/MS are minor at best. At least we got DT (despite this been drenched in controversy as they said it wasn't capable or coming to the phone) but it is just another case of underwhelming half promises from SE or some of the reasons they give for e.g. not providing access to the bootloader. I know it isn't really a big deal but it just fuels my suspicions about SE and not believing what they say. UXP, for me, has been shoddy - the 3D gallery is much better. I did like parts of MS but was fairly laggy. TS - never used. SE aren't the only ones at pitching useless 'skins' - TouchWiz sounds pretty bad. HTC sense sounds like it is getting worse. MotionBlur - not heard about this, any comments? I think that is pretty much it for the X10 now - probably just a few firmware updates. The Desire will be getting updated to Gingerbread officially - though we do have it on the X10 thanks to XDA (currently in Alpha or Beta stage I think).

I love my X10 but only recently when 2.1 one came and some real progress was made over at XDA. It is still a very good phone but only 'very good' with XDA's work. Anyway moving on....

Xperia arc Home Launcher now available for X10

Install the Xperia arc Home Launcher

1) Download the files you need from here.

2) Unzip the zip file and you will find four apk files (DigitalClockWidget, GenieWidget, Home and PhotoWidget).

3) Copy the files over to your handset using the USB cable or something like Dropbox (our preferred method).

4) Use Astro (or an alternative file manager) to locate the files and install.

5) Optional: You may want to install ‘Home Switcher’ from the Android Market to easily switch between launchers.

Looks quite nice and they are reporting it runs pretty well including the pinch zoom for the home screen widgets :D

Some people are saying they can't get the digital clock widget to work - possible solution is to be rooted and uninstall the 'digital clock widget' with Titanium.

Runs on mine but noticeably laggy - using BlueSparks 2.1 ROM.

Did the last firmware update and android market update take all of the decent apps off, like adblock or adfree, getting sick of the ads popping up and blocking the bit of the screen i want to see :(

Running newest baseband on a 2.2 ROM but with old market - adfree is there but not adblock.

2.3 Gingerbread Arc ROM is out but still in very early stages.

My new fave ROM is CM 6.1.3 V4 - very easy on the eyes, fluid and fast (although Quadrant score is only <1000):

MIUI Camera
[Choose Med instead of High Resolution for best Quality]
Video Recording works with Videocam Illusion from Market
MIUI Keyboard
MIUI Status Bar Icons
MIUI Animations
New Theme [all modified, no ugly stock Android]
HW Led working
LED Flashlight working [in most, if you want Camera Flashlight use Vignette]
latest Gapps already included
[[Login once into included then you can flash the newewst Market in XRecovery, other Gapps are all latest]]
Sysctl Tweaks
[My Battery Life and Speed of Phone improved a lot]
Build.prop Tweaks
[Tweaks + working 2.2 Fingerprint]
Works on newest Kernel and Baseband

EDIT - Updated to new market - same results with those apps.

Just installed an update for the ROM I am using (two posts above) - uses the new Arc launcher which is very nice indeed. Running ok for you Electro? Mine has crashed once so far (first 5 minutes).
