Just a quick question to everyone on Wolfs 2.3 rom. Once this is installed and you go into 'About phone' the Android/kernal version numbers you get, are these default numbers? I remember with previous modded ROMS you get different names and so on, but after installing Wolf's ROM they still look like the default ones?

Thanks Knightstalker. Can anyone see any difference with the Bravia engine? doesn't seem to make much of a difference to me

Ok massive update..Stock 2.3.3 firmwares are NOW rooted seperatly...Simply put, get your Regions firmware, for us which is the UK one, as the firmwares are apparently optimized, im not sure how but i suspect its something to do with signal and Edge/H thing...and then follow Doomlords guide on this page..http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=16205730#post16205730 Then you will have a completley stock 2.3.3 With root so you can do anything at your own pace :D:D:D

Edit...im not sure how simple the method is, ill be trying it shortly as im moving to the UK generic stock to test if its any different from Wolfs german 2.3.3

Edit2 . Also with Wolfs 2.3.3 you may find you get more battery drain and wifi drops every now and then, im sure this is down to wolfs tweaks.

Its worth at least rooting it, you then have the option of removing the crappy apps you dont need, takes around 10mins to do it too so not a big issue.

Just noticed how post happy i got earlier lol, i need to calm down.

you might be right, going to download the stuff, its just the hassle i have to do to get my windows laptop going :o

So what do you think?

Personally i love it, yea its a faff getting it but its actually worth it, as my phone now looks and behaves similar to the 2.2 wolfs rom :) so im happy about that, battery life is totally changed in 2.3.3 - 100% 13 hours ago, and im down to 69%, but this is still with the rom settling in and so on..But still 13 hours and down to 69% is miles better than 2.2 - Plus ive installed around 32 things, messed with settings, took photo's, messages, 2 phone calls :) Cant ask for more..well i can i want an Arc now lol.

It's really fast and smooth and, like you said, the battery is ten times better than before. I love it! :D

I'm stuck, I've done the kernal flashing, and I'm at the part where I should be able to install xrecovery but now the phone isn't recognized on the pc.

Don't you already have the Xrecovery APK on your SD to install with root explorer?

Have you tried it on a different computer to see if it can be recognised on that?

Failing that do you have the ability to put the sd card into your pc to transfer the files you need?

Can you install the Xrecovery via an app ? i thought it was done either in flash tool, or adb !!

im trying my third pc, just installing pc companion again to see if this one will work.

Yes, you can. As I said you need root explorer and root access obviously!

Download this: http://www.mediafire.com/?pnpvpg3cj4gvf0n

Then change the file extension from .zip to .apk

Then install it with root explorer.

Then navigate to /system/bin with root explorer and set that folder to R/W.

Then open the Xrecovery apk and press install (you should get 3 ticks, if you don't then you haven't enabled R/W in the folder above).

And then it's installed :)

Don't forget to set the system/bin folder back to R/O when you are done.

I'm happy with the generic software i guess

Ah glad you got it sorted, sorry i didnt reply i went out and totally forgot to reply, im loving it so far, removed all the crap, and installed Z Bravia, and Z's FPS uncap, and im pretty pleased so far, i dont see the need for custom roms now.

Right - Anyone else getting some strange battery drain, with something called Media in the battery usage menu, despite not using any media?
