I have a few questions. I have been looking of the net at various reviews etc about the release of the new Sony Ericcson W960i but was wondering if any of you who currently have a W950i, could answer a few questions.

What is the quality like for movies etc. I have just given my Cowon D2 to my son and was hoping the the W960i would be a decent replacement as I used to use the D2 quite a bit for watching films when travelling etc.

What is the battery life like. Watching media seems to be a lot more demanding on the battery, Im hoping for at least 4 hours!!

As far as everything else is concerned the W960i has just I want, so Im hoping that the quality is good because that would be the cherry on the cake!!!

for those who have not seen it yet!!

wow! I haven't seen that before! Looks stunning! Well playback of video on phones like the P990i is pretty good, obviously to get the best out of them you have to encode video at the exact resolution but it seems to handle well. Thats the only SE smartphone I've had video experience with. The only thing I would be worried about is how the W950i was slow as hell. You had a remote and everything, but you go to change track.....oh takes 2 seconds.... and so on. I'm not a believer in these kind of devices, yeah they can do everything, but its not to my expectations. I'm hoping this new SE phone will improve on a lot of things and sure looks like it will!

I have had the W950i since Jan 07:
For movies its excellent, it supports something like 650kbps video bitrate so the quality is excellent and the screen is nice and big, I have watched quite a lot of movies on it and its been excellent and the sound is very good aswell.

The battery life is not bad, though watching a movie for 2 hours pretty much drained a fully charged battery last time I did it so you can't watch movie after movie after movie. For playing MP3's though it seems to play for ages and the battery is excellent in this situation.

The only thing I miss is a camera but I am probobly gonna get the W960i as my next phone so it won't be a problem!

How are we supposed to give you information that isnt out there yet, the phone is not released and all current reviews are being done on test/review samples (ie not fully finished). :)

I would expect it to be comparable to the p990i in every aspect except in memory intensive areas as it has more ram so can perform better in this respect.

So it may be worth digging out p990i reviews.

Thats great thanks MG42M. It looks like this is the phone for me then. If they improve the battery that would be a great.

the p990i is closer to it though, as the 950i is based off the m600 which did not have all the extras the p990i did.
