Sony PS3 in 3D?

I think you'll find if anything Nintendo have blown Sony and Microsoft out of the water.

Or if we're talking game sales, Microsoft have blown Nintendo and Sony out the water.

The one thing that is certain is that Sony haven't blown anyone out the water, they are lagging well behind.

My friend has one of those. The only game he tried it on was SoF2. It wasn't really 3D... just gave it a little more... dont know how I can put it... maybe depth? it wasn't like 3D glasses and a paper image. I can see the flicker giving someone serious head aches.

They're lame devices, it would be a lot better if we could use some form of transparent film instead of shutters that would become opaque with a voltage applied across it.

i guess its only a matter of time before its tweaked to work on lcd/plasma
I really dont understand why there is so much negativity when someone says the word "sony" or "ps3", it is getting pretty sad that certain users feel they need to justify their purchase in EVERY post
they are putting new kit into a console at no extra cost (assuming its just s firmware upgrade) why on earth would you complain??

Not to mention more competition is better for the consumer as if it is a success other companies will be either slashing prices or coming out with more innovations
People who can use it, will, those who cant there is no difference to their game at all.
This is actually pretty cool when it comes to movies as its more than any current media pc can do, so i suspect its aimed to the home cinema market rather than the gaming one.

Yeah it is a pretty cool idea, it's just that I don't see it catching on. Certainly not in the mainstream anyway.

The "4D" thing is pretty cool too, it just annoys me that they are pretending it's something that it's not. By calling it 4D it means you have no idea what it actually is.

Erm... did you follow the conversation properly?

Hint: The answer is no or you'd know we are talking about MMORPG's and online RPGs.

and what good online rpg and mmporgs are available on todays consoles to test your theory?

The only ones i can think of are oblivion and two worlds (effectively a cheaper oblivion clone), both being offline

Or did you just pluck the statement out of the air without any evidence?

They were talking about MMORPG's, and them not being popular.

No one is saying that RPG's aren't popular.

OT, but I expect thats why Sony has done a deal with a Ncsoft (Guild wars, Tabula Rasa etc) to bring MMORPGs to the PS3. I think this and there own Agency game, as well as a few others may, change peoples ideas about MMO's on consoles, well the PS3 anyway, especially as it seems like the Agency will be free to play online.

Isn't the marvel MMO coming to consoles? then of course theres Huxley. Im sure its a genre that will become very popular on consoles eventually, but at the moment theres only a few.

The only reason MMO's arent popular on consoles is because it's only now, that consoles are fully online. Or atleast, Its only now that the vast majority of the public are taking their consoles online.

PC is full of MMO's that are VERY popular, WOW, Everquest, Everquest 2, Final Fantasy 11, Star wars Galaxies, Guild wars. This is because the PC is more or less guaranteed to be hooked up with the net, with no complications.

If any of these games came now to Xbox 360 or PS3, I'm pretty sure they'd get played, a lot. Because I don't know of very many new consoles that arent connected to the net. Apart from those that decided to keep the firmware mod.

Everything is moving online now, RPGs, Shooters, Sports. And theres room for them all.

Dig a bit deeper and you'll find China.

Bingo. Yahtzee. WE HAVE A WINNER!
I really find it amusing that you somehow think you have a valid argument, with no evidence either way to back it up.
Maybe i took too much of a leap assuming he was comparing it to games which do exist, of a similar genre,
abliet not a direct match to what was originally quoted, rather than just posting random comments based on nothing factual

rather than point blank rubbishing something that currently doesnt even exist

Anyhoo, i think i am dragging the thread OT somewhat so i will stop there

I realise I sort of missed this arguement, but thought I'd share my views.

The point was made that right now MMO's aren't popular on consoles because right now they are virtually non-existant.
You then picked a title out of the air, Oblivion - which of course is not an MMO... it's just an RPG.

I don't believe Kreeeee or NokkonWud or anyone for that matter was saying MMO's couldn't be popular on a console, just that right now there are none ;)

I'm sure everyone remembers PSO (Phantasy Star Online) for the dreamcast. That was very popular. And now in the age of online gaming MMO's would/should/will become very popular on consoles.

As for dynamic aging and such (4d), it would be pretty cool in a rpg if your character ages as your playtime increases
As for that, have you not played Fable :)

Anyway, I don't see this 3D malarky winning many people over to be honest. The idea seems pretty decent - but with the fact that you must own a certain type of TV or at the very least a projector to get this technology to work... I can't this working out.

How many joe-shmoes do you know who would have a projector in their front room, or for that matter know what a DLP tv is?

Hah hah, you guys are so hilariously pedantic.

This 3d stuff is really interesting and will most definitely come about in some way or another within the next ten years. I don't think wearing glasses is ever going to catch on though.

This is pretty awesome:
