It’s obviously not 3.6b for them to just continue with Destiny
We know all this.

I'm assuming you mean Bethseda (when looking at my previous post). The answer is nobody knows; We will have to see how the next 10 years plays out. Currently we don't know why they bought bungie and how it impacts Sony's future game development. This will have taken months, if it was a response to Blizzard is this even an adequate response?
Hopefully they make something other than Destiny 3. I've not been impressed by any of the Destiny games tbh.
While I agree. It’s a lot for one IP. But who knows what else bungie might be working on ? They might have something else up their sleeve ? Sony must have some sort of plans in place.3.6 billion for one studio with one franchise? It makes the Bethesda purchase look like a bargain.
It's not really speculation is it? You think Sony paid 3.6b for Bungie only to never release anything again? There's a big new IP in the works that we know little about. They don't have a big back catalogue but they have a wealth of experience in the industry.
You think Sony and Bungie did this deal within 2 weeks of the Blizzard and Microsoft announcement?

huh?? Isn't that essentially what Random guy was saying??
Sony would have known about MSFT courting Activision/Blizzard for some time (who would have been in discussion for at least 4-5 months I reckon). They would have lined up some counter plays, like this.
If you read the whole post you'd have seen the speculation was specifically about creating multiplayer versions of Sony's existing IPs, but you chose to ignore that.A few posts back they said there's speculation about it, to which I said it's hardly speculation. We've been going in the same circle since

Just speculation, but I've seen chat online about how it's not Destiny that Sony wants, but rather Bungie's experience with MP and GaaS. It'd explain why they're not making future Destiny content PS exclusive - they want Bungie to build multiplayer and live service versions of some existing and new franchises.
Multiplayer games set in the worlds of Ghost of Tsushima (like a greatly expanded Legends mode), Horizon, The Last of Us... There were also job postings months ago of Insomniac looking for people with multiplayer experience.
Interesting thoughts, but only time will tell.
Well seeing as there's absolutely no point, no. We shan't.I read it Random Guy.
I'll repeat the same thing I said. It obviously isn't speculation that Sony spent 3.6 billion just for Destiny and purchased them for the experience they have in the gaming industry. Bungie only have 1 other big new IP being worked on and with 900+ employees you bet they'll work on other projects in the future.
If you want to tell me it's speculation about GaaS then sure lmao.
Shall we go for round 4?
I usually do, thanks.

I didn't mean to come across as taking sides, but to be fair, I still can't see the distinction you're trying to make. It sounds like you're both arguing the same point
