I really do not understand this. Yes mobile phones (iphone 4 i'm looking at you) suddenly became a lot of peoples go to camera because, as the gentleman said, the best camera is the one you have with you. All of a sudden people had quite capable cameras in their pockets wherever they went, the small sensor and lack of a zoom lens were the trade-off. The reason for mobile phones being popular photography tools is their convenience, the very convenience this would take away if carried around with a phone. As mentioned out why would I cary this lens over my rx100 which would take significantly better pictures. I can send pictures to my phone over WiFi so why would I need a lens on my phone‽ :baffled:

Well the QX100 should take identical photos to your RX100 because it is the same sensor and same lens, just way cheaper.
I guess Sony's idea is that an iphone + this camera is smaller, lighter and cheaper than an iphone + your Rx100 and gives identical photos. You then have the photos instantly on your phone to upload to facebook.
But yeah, I just don't think people will see it as that practical.
Would you really upload a 20Mp image to Facebook, even on 4G?
My 10Mp JPGs are about 3.8Mb.
Can you see the difference in a 1Mp camera pic versus a 1Mp QX pic?
I see this as massive overkill for the Instagram generation.
