I curently have a Kenwood, but its lacking an AUX socket and i want one to plug my mp3 player up to so ive been having a snoop around the local halfrauds and i found THIS which seems like a nice looking player but i knwo nothing of the sound quality on Sony stereos. Are they any good?

Cheers

My mum has that in her 206.

While showing it to me, she said "It sounds absolutely superb"

I tried my best not to laugh :D Although, the 206 speakers are gash anyway, so not really the HU's fault. Defo get a Pioneer or Alpine unit. Worlds ahead of the Sony's.

My Pioneer brought my 206 standard speakers to life. Pioneer have to be the best buy for mid-range gear.

Every Sony HU owner I know have had problems, usually so bad they have to replace the HU. They are not that well made.

Sony stereos are fine as low-end kit...For the home.

Even my scant knowledge of car hifi (having never owned a car quiet enough to have one in ;)) knows that they are thehsux!!!! for car use...

Always rated my high end kenwood when i had two of them back in 2001 - 2003 but they both cost £450 so not exactly cheap units.

General run of the mill kenwoods.... You're better off with Alpine / Pioneer.

spot on, the top end kenwood stuff is great but the lower end are not so great, not bad mind, but mid/low end pioneer and alpine is really quite good

ive got a sony....never broken, not even chipped or anything....build quality's fine
Tbh unless you have an amp and very expensive speakers, the head unit doesnt make much difference....*expects to get flamed*
