Sony w829 55 & str dg510

So bought the above TV for my new flat set it all up as I did with my LG but sound doesn't work. I've gone PS4 > IN (STR) > OUT (STR) > TV

I've changed the TV settings to speakers to no avail. Can anyone shed any light?

I own an 829 myself.. are you using the red and white audio leads from the tv then to the amp ?

How would I go about fixing it? Ive never heard of it. So if that doesn't work with my amp, is there no fix?

It would be a setting on both TV and PS4, if it doesn't work, turn it off.
Just a question of playing around with it. I have no experience with your TV or amp, but my PS3 used to work with my Samsung TV's HDMI control.

It may not be the issue, but at least it eliminates it.

Also check HDMI passthrough settings on amp and sound settings on PS4.

Turned that off and on. It sees my ps4. My friend said why am I going through the amp why not connect both to TV? Confused now.

I'm a bit confused as to how to set up it up now.

Amp > TV in (would this be HDMI from the out port)?
PS4 > TV in?

Try PS4>tv first, bypassing the amp.
Then if that works OUT from amp to tv, PS4 into DVD IN or VIDEO2 IN on amp.
(I think thats what they are marked on your amp)

Sound comes out the TV fine doing this.

I take it you have speakers connected to amp and not just using it as a HDMI hub?
Do other sources work through the amp?

This is the question I was about to ask. We need a bit more detail about your setup, how you are trying to use it etc.

Yeah hadn't changed a thing since moving it over from old place. Just want to use it for ps4 and general movies via USB to TV or ps4. I'm going to buy two new HDMI cables to see if that helps.

OK so I re ran the calibration test and all test sounds came out then it said error 12 which apparently means the speakers arnt detected but then somewhere else states that this is just a message when no mic is connected?! Confused! I'm in richer sounds might just buy a new amp in the deals.
