Sony working on PS4!

I wasn't trolling. Just merely giving my opinion after switching from PS3 to PC gaming.

True there is exclusive feel to consoles but graphics and modwise I enjoy playing more on PC. This is coming from someone who has been an avid gamer and has played on various consoles for the last 16 years.

I must have missed the part in the opening post where it said PC gaming is doomed here comes the PS4.

I was the same playing games on PCs for a years, not really bothering with the last couple or so generations of consoles but that's now changed. There's no faffing around with upgrading components, long install times, configuring Windows, CD keys, updating drivers nor worrying about hardware compatibility issues and the re-sale value of games. I agree that third party mods can sometimes improve the longevity and value of games, though, to some extent.

Not to mention not having to be hunched up next to a desk to play most games compared to relaxing in the living room on the sofa instead :D

We are on the opposite end:D

I still play on PS3 but only occasionally now, since switching to gaming PC with a 5850 card.

I'm sure most consoles are in development half a decade before we see them in shops. My best guess of PS4 release date is christmas 2012. I hope it is later than that.

I would be very suprised if the PS4 is not fully backwards compatable to the ps3, the only thing i ask of the ps4 is that it's powerful enough to render every game at full 1080p (none of the this internal upscaling rubbish) without question

Surely as an avid gamer, with 16 years experience you've learnt that singling out a platform as the messiah is crap.

And saying things like

Meh

PS4 still won't beat PC in gaming experience.

Is just going to annoy people.

I can hand on heart say the only games I've enjoyed on PC in the last decade are The Witcher and Oblivion\Fallout 3 With mods. And yes, I have played a lot of games.

So for me, I can pretty much guarantee the PS4 will beat my "PC Gaming experience" unless something drastic is done about the games that appear on PC. I dont understand why it lacks games similar in style to ones that appear on Consoles. Uncharted, God of war, MGS4, Heavy Rain. Where the hell did Alan Wake go!?

The only thing PC has going for it, Is the ability to run the games that do come out, in massive resolution and loads of AA/AF. Which my hat goes off to the machine. I just wish they'd release something I enjoy, Instead of 'Generic Sexy Graphics Benchmark V2.1337-First Person Shooter Edition"

The Witcher 2. Yes, That gets a thumbs up from me. but what else!? Not a thing. I'm not even going to start on the ludicrous amount of shallow FPS games that exist.

All platforms have faults, all platforms have games that are good to somebody. PC games for me, the good ones are too few and spread too far apart. Thats why I'd rather pick up a console, Decent games are plentyful

Dude, this isn't 2002. PC gaming as moved on a bit you know??

My PC from 2007 still runs all the latest games, for Steam you don't need to install, just download and then run without discs from there, Windows doesn't need configuring for gaming, Steam doesn't need CD keys, drivers occasionally need updating, that takes 5mins, Windows 7 doesn't have hardware compatibility issues. I'll give you resale Value of the games though. Exclusives are irrelevant.

Still, I'm all for this. As a PC gamer, I find my games are being held back by consoles 6 year old technology, so hopefully a new generation of consoles will get progress moving again (aka more native DX11 games, higher res textures etc). :)

I feel sorry for you then. Most console games are out on PC anyway, and are often better on PC if the port is done well.

You seem to be forgetting about the ridiculous amount of crappy console games there are out there as well.

I missed the part in the title where it says "PC vs Console, fight, fight, fight"
Can we keep to the topic instead of trashing the thread with bitter rants about how PC gaming is awesome and nothing is going to be as good?
Some people like consoles, some like pc's, some (like me and most other sane people) like both (a lot of us like all different consoles too!). Get over it instead of behaving like kids arguing about who would win in a fight between Spiderman and Batman.
It's just a constant baiting match and it's even worse in the pc gaming forum.
The only people who seem to care about this argument are exclusive pc gamers - almost as though they have to prove to themselves that their HUGE investment to be able to play console ports in dx11 was worth it.
Keep your belly aching over in the pc gaming forum. You can whip out your graphics cards and measure over there too.

I actually think this PS4 rumour is great timing considering Nintendo plan to unveil their "next gen" at E3.

If you want a console vs PC thread **** off and create the tenth billion thread on the subject.

Back OT not really shocking news.

Microsoft have been working on development towards a new Xbox pretty much since the 360 launched, it takes a lot of pressurising of various companies to get the hardware you want shrunken down to fit a tiny plastic box.

I have no doubt Sony were doing the same.

You'd think so right? But unless the ps4 is cell based then it will all have to be emulated unless it has the hardware built like the emotion engine in the ps2 in the ps3 60gb. And after that the new slims are not compatible with ps2 media. I'd imagine the cell harder to emulate than the emotion engine.

I'm all for the NEW PS4 in summer 2012 - as long as it comes with GT6 :)

Considering we've had two GT games on each PS console so far, I bet we'll see another on PS3 especially as they've already got the GT5 engine there to build on.

I missed the part in the title where it says "PC vs Console, fight, fight, fight"

I think Harry Hill should settle it.

which experience would that be ? the one of buying new components every few years just because devs cant be bothered ? or the one of missing out on loads of top games that are exclusive to consoles ? cant be bothered with either of those anymore myself

Most games are console ports not had to upgrade in years and I still get full hd with full af/as and a constant 60fps.
