7th Level of Hell...
So the Z3 has been out for a couple of weeks and sees to be a winner. I, personally, was looking to change my ageing Galaxy S3 for one of them until I heard about the Z4 which, according to rumours, will be sporting all the latest tech including 64bit CPU, new camera sensor, 4GB memory etc.

This is also reportedly the last device from Sony's current 6 month refresh cycle and will be going onto annual launches like everyone else...

It got my interest enough to put off buying the Z3 until Feb/March when the Z4 will be out. So, here is what is being reported so far:

  • 5.5" Display with 2560*1440 resolution
  • 20.7 MP Camera with curved lens
  • 64 Bit Snapdragon 810 @ 2.4GHz
  • 4GB Ram
  • 32GB Storage as minimum
  • Dedicated Amp for sound

All sounding good so far... Anyone know anything more to add to the thread until launch? :)

By the time this is released, all flagships will have this sort of spec. It's the design, camera and software that will be the differentiator.

Think I'm at the point where I'll keep my current phone until a new revolution gets implemented

I don't need more resolution
I don't need a bigger screen
I don't need more performance

I don't see anything else in a phone yet that is worth any outlay

Rather than focusing on the hardware specs, these phone companies need to plough money into R&D for better batteries.

It's all well and good having all the latest gizmos but if it's lasting less than a day then half of them won't get used anyway.

Hence why I only want 1080p phone atm

It's basically the specs of the Moto Driod Turbo in American which I wanted sooo bad so I'm in.

I agree though, this is the specs that all flagship phones will be in Q1 / Q2 of 2015. I'd prefer the pureness of Moto but they seem hell bent on not releasing a flagship phone over here.

I've had HTC's for a while but will see when this comes out.

5th January: in the calendar. :)

Some more up to date Rumors, suggest Sony will update all Four Z4 Products (Including Compact, Ultra, Tablet.) With the following general specifications:
Flagship = 5.5" 2560*1440, Compact = 4.6" 1920*1080, Ultra = 6.4" 2560*1440, Tablet = 10.1 2560*1440 Resolution.

20.7 MP Camera with curved lens
64 Bit Snapdragon 810 @ 2.8GHz
4GB Ram
32GB Storage as minimum
Dedicated Amp for sound
LTE Cat.6 + Bluetooth 4.1

Thats some nice meaty specifications. I have been holding off upgrading my Galaxy Note for 2 Years, waiting for 64Bit Soc, and I especially like the sound of the Ultra. :D

I really liked the Z Ultra, but a new, heavily improved Ultra would go down just fine! My only dislikes of the current Ultra are, the speakers and screen (not the res so much, more like the colours, brightness etc)

So I'm up for either the Z4 or the new Z Ultra? Announcement may be in January but I'm guessing the release will be more Feb/March time?

This is the phone I'm keeping my eye on, if Sony can emulate the great battery life seen in the Z3 and Z3c through their new screen technology - they could be on to a great device!! I'm slightly cautious of the specs as Sony aren't know for releasing a device with a brand new SoC (I know it's months away but I don't think the 810 will become mainstream until the back end of Q2).

Personally I think Sony is fine on the hardware, they should invest more into the software side of things. Their UI is fine but it doesn't feel as polished as other UIs from other manufacturers. Also the time it takes to upgrade to new Android versions... At least the Z series seems to have some decent support compared to their other phones.

I will be very surprised if this comes out early January! Doesn't give the Z3 much shelf life (barely even 3 months!)

I would expect it to come out when most of the flagships start arriving, March - May.
