Sony's accounts hacked

Live chat is not working, they don't seem to respond via Twitter, time to call them at 11:30. So glad I cancelled my card as the git who has my account could have been running wild with it, god know's why Sony don't have 24hr support.

When my info got stolen (not from psn) the banks were great so hopefully you won't have any problems recovering the money.

Thanks for making the thread, I didn't know there was an 2FA option - just enabled it.

Did you have 2fa activated byeo when you got these problems?

Anyway hope you get it sorted.

No

Finally got through to support, took them less than 5 mins to sort out. Whoever had my account had created two sub accounts so he deleted those for me, made sure I could still use my current PS ID then sent me a reset password email. re: the money, he said they will investigate it and will get an email once it's been resolved.

Apart from waiting nearly 50 mins, it was very helpful and easy to fix, now time to get two-step enabled. I'm annoyed at myself for not doing it sooner.

My account got hacked 10 days ago, the hackers on mine changed email address, then setup another account using my email address so sony need to delete new account and transfer the old account on my email address

they did say they could assign my psn account to new email address for me, but i said no. so they can sort out new created account on my email address.

Lost all trust and think sony security needs looking at.

whats really funny, i'm still receiving messages on my phone from people on PSN network, when my account not active 10+ days later

noway i should be receiving messages from a platform that i can't access 10+ days later

Sony seem to always get hit with security breaches but like I said, I'm annoyed I didn't enable two-step sooner.

I don't leave any payment information on PSN, even with 2FA....just buy topup codes on the rainforest and apply them.

Without 2FA you absolutely should not leave your PSN account linked to any payment method.

Likewise. Personally I do not know why some people didn't enable two factor the day it went live. That was the first thing I had done (due to all the known problems) and how long has it been, a few months?

Mine was hacked last weekend, I've not used it in about 2yrs and suddenly I get an email saying that the account email has been changed (without needing any verification?) and an account with my email no longer exists.

Oh well, I didn't use it anyway and at least I'm smart enough not to allow these companies to store my payment details.

I was going to, but first 48hrs went live people was getting problems, so I forgot about it and waited for Sony to sort everything out.

I planned to enable once I started to use my ps4, that day I used ps4 it got hacked.

My biggest problem with Sony customer service delays and being able to be connect to my psn account without correct email and password, LOL

You think your account safe? hah

Another month, another Sony hack.

Not only is their online service absolutley useless but so is their 'security'.

It's not Sony being hacked, it's people's accounts seemingly being quite easy to gain access to because the relevant security features haven't been enabled by them.

They still have some daft things to sort out.

I just enabled 2SA on my account, but initially was getting problems due to having another Sony group account with the same email address. Pretty sure it was in relation to a TV. I had to delete this account before being able to enable. Pretty stupid

The account password should be enough, the trouble is Sony can't seem to store them securely.

Allowing account emails to be changed without email verification is pretty shoddy too, if they'd sent me a "you have attempted to change your email click the below link to confirm" email the hacker wouldn't have been able to hijack my account.

Is there actually any evidence that credentials are being exposed directly through Sony's services? Everything I've seen suggests this is happening as a result of the usual... weak password, re-use of password across multiple services, inadvertently giving up their credentials by entering them into a fake web site or having them captured by using a compromised device etc.

Do agree that it is far to easy to change the e-mail address though... though a verification at that point would only be helpful assuming they don't also have access to your e-mail account too. How many people don't have two-factor authentication turned on for their e-mail addresses? :o
