soooo AIO or DIY Bundle

Honestly my pump/top/mini res combo is quite the pain in the ass when it comes to filling / draining / bleeding etc. but for the money I cant really complain

If you already have the rad space to cope, then you should be golden when you upgrade to a new GPU in the future and you can add it to the loop.

Only issue is blocks for new cards are VERY expensive. I always try and stay one generation behind If I can help it. for example, 980ti blocks could probably be had for next to nothing atm, whilst 1070 blocks will cost you an arm and a leg. bonus is 980ti responds to wc better than 1070 anyway lol
 
so after a few more hours looking at tubing and such I've settled on PETG tubing (between work, a 19month old daughter and bending tubes i'm sure when i'll get any sleep :p)

but I got another question for you helpful folks;

will these fittings

work with this tubing - if so am I right in saying that 3 of those tubes will suffice?

edit 2:*I've found Thermaltake V-Tubler PETG Hard Tubing 5/8 - 1/2 (16/12mm) 4x100 cm - Clear elsewhere for a few less quid, would these work with the above fittings?!

finally i'd like a couple of right angle (is that the correct term?) for the actual pump/res - think it will aid with tube routing but I don't know what to search for as OcUK don't seem to have what I am looking for, at least from what I could see.

edit: oh and I've sort of put the horse before the cart and ordered my coolant dye and uv light strips! :p

I think the V-Tubler is imperial... so you'd need to make sure the fittings were imperial also. If you wanted that tubing, the EV2 fittings would be best I'd say.

imperial/metric - dammit why don't they just use one standard!!

I'll maybe ignore the V-Tubler then. not worth the saving to have start to look around for the fittings in stock somewhere.

The XFlow has the ports on the opposing corners. They're both great rads, it's just the XFlow may be useful in some builds where you wanted to route your tubing a certain way.

Coming from a hydraulics background we call right angles elbows and nineties as in 90 degrees. Tees and nipples are used for adaptors and the T shaped connectors of which there are various types.

Imperial and metric. Ask any instrument tech... a nightmare especially as some compression couplings have small marking for sizes and some don't with multiple ferrules etc... haha gets complicated. Npt and bsp taper fittings also mate together a little and confuse a lot of people. Dangerous subject when fittings go to 10,000 psi and beyond.

EK-XRES 140 Revo D5 PWM (incl Pump)

Black Ice Nemesis 360 GTS xFlow (going with the xFlow as I think it will give a better symmetry to the loop, rather than all the tubing being on one side of the case - does that make sense?!)

EK-HDC Fitting 16mm G¼ - Black x 6

EK-AF Angled 90° Degrees G¼ - Black Nickel x 4

Monsoon PETG Tubing 16/12mm (ID 1/2" OD 5/8") 4x90cm - Clear - probably a lot more than I need? but I fully expect to have 1 or 2 hiccups with the bending

Mayhems X1 Clear Premixed Watercooling Fluid 1L - already bought

Mayhems Dye UV Yellow Green 15ml - I may change to a different colour though, depending how I like this in 'real life' - already bought

Darkside 30cm Dimmable UV Led Strip x 2 - already bought

does that sort of cover it? apart from the silicone stuff for bending the heat PETG should I get a bending tool, chamfer cutter etc?
 
I think the Monsoon tubing is imperial, but you may want to double check that. Sure I read somewhere there are issues with it and EK fittings. Always advisable to stay with the same brand tubing and fittings, unless you know 100% they will go together no problem.

And yes, heatgun, bending insert, chamfer tool and something to cut the tubes with... you can get clipper style cutters, or mini hacksaw and jig thing (technical jargon ;)).
 
Jesus will I ever get this imperial/metric malarkey right!

I would have gone for EK tubing but can only find it in 50cm lengths?!

Yes I believe that is all it comes in, they don't do longer. It's unlikely you would need longer though really, unless you had a really long run between two points.

you are quite right as usual! I did a little sketch and had the outflow from the rad running straight back to the pump/res instead of into the cpu which is why I thought I needed longer than 50cm!! d'oh
 
This all sounds very exciting!

Make sure you get some pics up.

I still haven't had the nerve to go hard tube but with the constant changing of parts I don't think I could cope with the hassle.

Exciting/nerve wracking! :p

I'll most likely do a build log but it'll be a while, as I've said time is my biggest limiting factor here :(

My plan is to get all the WC stuff first, decide on a colour scheme then look at motherboards and ram that match (as closely as possible)
 
right my head is pickled!! I for the life of me can't find a bending tool for 16mm OD petg. they all seem to be 12-14mm - anyone any ideas? obviously you can't link if a competitor but even just if someone can confirm they exist and what to google for would help!! (preferably not mandrells)
 
What fittings/tubing did you buy? I wouldn't touch the Monsoon stuff with a barge pole. Their imperial to metric conversion is guess work.

If going for Monsoon fittings, you pretty much need to use their tubing too.

I have a 12mm bending insert for Monsoon tubing going spare if you need it. Just give me a shout via trust and I'll send it to you in the mail. I bought two to use on Alphacool PETG. Turns out Americans have no idea what a mm is! Money wasted :(
