Had a very old 80gb drive for my back ups and its has got to the point of being no more.

I am looking for an External HDD recommendation but I am not sure whether to go for a Laptop or a Full external one. I work out of the country a lot, hence looking at Laptop Externals.

What are the differences in the two?

Cheers in advance.

The benefits of an external based on a 2.5" laptop disk are the small physical size and the ability to power the drive over USB so no external power brick needed. You have to trade off a bit of speed (not much though) and a lot of capacity compared to a 3.5" HDD based unit.

If 80Gb is sufficient for you then a 2.5" one is the way to go.
