Put my back out on Tuesday night, absolute agony. Some people telling me I shouldn't be moving about too much, others saying I should try to do as much as possible. Anyone know what's best? I've had next to no sleep and can't really sit still too long or it starts to hurt even after taking pain killers :(

It is better today than it was yesterday but I didn't go into work, job requires me to do a lot of running about the building and moving equipment and I know I just couldn't do it. Lifting 21" CRT monitors with a bad back is not my idea of fun!

Avoid the obvious things like going to the Dr's/chairopractor (sp?), or taking pain killers/using deep heat or some other muscle relaxant.

Instead sit in your chair at your computer and ask a bunch of unqualified people on a computer help forum!

Hey you guys have some pearls of wisdom at times, granted I'm shocked I've not been told to burn it with fire or punch myself in the ovaries :D

yeah, but those things are implied!

I suffer from a terrible back at times and I usually try to keep as active as possible without overdoing it.

If there is no improvement within a couple days, then its off to the osteopath to be pulled about!

Hi mate

ok, rest your back, but keep it moving (avoid complete rest). Find a position of ease. now here are acouple of exercises which may help.

1: lie on the floor/bed on your back. now bend your knees to 90 degrees. slowly rock your knees from side to side (ill try to find a link or picture) this is good for spasm.

2: lie in the same position, now rock your pelvis, (ill try to explain) flattern the lower part of your back then arch it, now this is a suttle movement nothing huge (once again ill try to find a link).

You might have either aggrivated a faccet joint, or a disk, nothing to worry about, it should heal naturally over the last 5 days.

enjoy

Ok heres a Gif for the pelvic tilt exercises: http://www.dcdoctor.com/pages/right...s/back/exercises/exer_back_ex_pelvictilt.html

ignore the muscle contraction for the moment, were just try to start to move it.

If you are going to use heat or cold... use COLD.... your in the inflamatory stage, it needs to be cooled. if you use heat.. it will aggrivate the swelling.
