Im looking to upgrade my aging system with something new and fancy but I only need the following:

Motherboard
Processor
Graphics Card
RAM

I have no idea whats hot and whats not hence the lack of "I thought I might get this, what do you think?".

Budget of £550-600.

This is an excellent choice...

EVGA GeForce 8800 GTS 640MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail
(£258.49) £219.99

Crucial Ballistix 2GB (2x1GB) DDR2 PC2-5300C3 667MHz Dual Channel Kit
(£58.74) £49.99

Gigabyte GA_P35C_DS3R (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 & DDR3 Motherboard
(£93.99) £79.99

Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 "LGA775 Conroe" 2.40GHz (1066FSB) - Retail
(£150.39) £127.99

Sub Total : £477.96
Shipping : £8.95
VAT : £85.21
Total : £572.12

Would that run the likes of Armed Assualt, CoH, FSx etc on high settings and possibly Crysis?

Ignore above: Just read some reviews of the card and processor. Thanks :)

Alex has a nice spec BUT...

This would be better:

Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 "LGA775 Conroe" 2.66GHz (1333FSB) - Retail
£124.99 (£146.86)

Gigabyte GA_P35C_DS3R (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 & DDR3 Motherboard £79.99 (£93.99)

Crucial Ballistix 2GB (2x1GB) DDR2 PC2-5300C3 667MHz Dual Channel Kit (BL2KIT12864AA663)
£49.99 (£58.74)

OcUK GeForce 8800 GTX 768MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - OEM £269.99 (£317.24)

Total: £627.34

Push the budget for the GTX :) Processor is 1333MHz FSB with a higher stock speed than the E6600. Worth pushing budget for a GTX - if you can't then its not worth paying more for a 640mb GTS and you should just save the money for future upgrades IMHO.

What resolution are you playing at?

Do you have a decent PSU?
You may have to budget for a new PSU depending on existing PSU and the other components you are buying.

Think the PSU is a cheapo 400w job so Im guessing i'd need a new one. Didn't think about that.

Thanks for the opinions so far

Yea, go for it. Not worth risking your other components IMO.
A quality PSU is always a good investment.
