I'm looking to spend "around" 1000£ on a new set-up (absolute max 1.1k, dont mind spending less that 1k
), mostly for gaming (WoW, TF2, Crysis) but with a fair chance of graphical work (adobe, 3d studio max), watching a few films.
I'm also looking to overclock where possible, to get the best bang for buck I can achieve.
At present, I want to stick to XP as my OS, will make the move to vista at "some point" but only when true DX10 games start to pop up and if anything takes my fancy, unless there is massive persuasion to make the move to Vista now (in which case this would have to come out of the above budget)
Looking to run a OcUK Value L2442WD-VA 24", which I'm hoping I can squeeze in to the above price.
My PC is also situated in my front room, so I would like to try and make it fairly quiet as when my son is using it, my wife and I have dont have to crank up the tv volume to cover fan noise like we do on our old Dell.
Not overly fussed on Hard drive space, as I dont have a great amount of stuff on my PC as it stands (only about 150 gb), also not bothered about having to use on-board audio if it comes with the board, as this is what I'm kinda used to.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, I've been looking at the weekend special offer http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=FS-096-OK but I'm pretty sure from what people have been telling me, that I can put together a better system for the price and optimize bits by chopping and changing bits and peices.
