Sorry but yet another tyre thread

4500 miles out of a set of F1's on an Accord is ridiculous, I cannot begin to imagine how you managed that. I had 15k out of the even softer GS-D3's on the back of my more powerful car and despite popular OcUK opinion I don't drive everywhere like a grandad.

The wear rate varies greatly between cars. A set of F1 assymetrics only lasted 6k on my girlfriends Zafira yet Sport Contact 2s lasted over 13k and the current Sport Contact 3s look to be wearing slightly better. On my Golf I can manage around 11-12k out of F1s and the original Sport Contact 2s lasted only 1k more. The only thing I can think of is the weight of a heavy diesel engine over the front wheels is killing the F1s off quickly.

That sort of makes sense but for me there was no point going for another set of F1 Asyms as at the time £10 more got me the PS2s which lasted twice as long, the PS3s that I paid rip-off prices for :) worked out even cheaper.

I hope Assymetrics last longer than some people are saying, I have a pair ready to go on the back of my car.

Fox - what size are your tyres?

Amazed that PS2's were only a tenner more. A set of PS2's for my car is 800 quid versus less than 600 for F1's!

Yep, that's obviously for 225/45/17's

I still want to know MrMoonX's tyre supplier as if they are that cheap then it's worth knowing for the future.
