Sorry For Another "Which Monitor Thread"

lol achievement

so one said on a different forum, that the min height for the monitor is 40cm? heres hoping, the monitor itself be 36.5cm

Dont have a measuring instrument to hand or I would measure my U2410 right now...but I have the panel sitting pretty much as low as it will go on the mount and it defo looks taller than 43 cm.....not by much though

i can push to 43.6 tell me its enough!!!!! wait the price is still an issue

sum1 said "16½ in minimum, when maxed, it is at 19 7/16 in"

The same as pretty much any 24 inch TN panel. Colours shift across the screen even if you're directly infront, vertical viewing angles are very limited and horizontal ones a little less limited. If I remember correctly you have been pondering the idea of a TN vs. VA (or other) panel for a while now and you like film watching. I think you should just go for the P2450H (for example) and DSR if you're not satisfied. It would save some mental anguish. ;)

You remember correctly. I managed to make my old Hyundai last another month by, would you believe, hitting the back of it every time I turned it on. It got to the point where I couldn't do this anymore because.. well... things got worse obviously!

Your advice of just going for the P2450H is good but those TN restrictions on the viewing angles sound awful. I don't know how people put up with it, I suppose it depends what you're used to.

Nevertheless I may just go for it. This n110 netbook I'm using now must have an LED screen and it's pretty much fine for what it does. I'm probably being just too picky.

How can there be all these glowing reviews for TN panels on OCUK if there are uneven colours and bad viewing angles?

every type of panel seems to have its up sides and down sides, i guess when reviewing you take certain apects into consideration, though its quite annoying when u can spend 300 quid on a monitor and its not great in all areas.

Most people just don't notice/care about these things (strange though it may sound) or simply accept them as 'normal'. Most users are shocked when I explain to them that the viewing angles of TN monitors affect even direct frontal viewing and that colours shift across the screen. It is just not something they tend to think about and for many of them they have not had other LCD panel types to compare with. Personally, although I am well aware of the issues, I still enjoy reviewing TN panel monitors and can easily look beyond their imperfections. They are certainly not 'all the same' (despite sharing common flaws) and it doesn't pain me to use them. :p

I just noticed that the BenQ EW2420 is a VA panel. I may well go with this. The complaints seem to be about the speakers and ghosting at 8ms.

Seeing as I would never use monitor speakers, this isn't a concern. Secondly, my Hyundai was 8ms so I most likely wouldn't notice any difference.

How can you have just noticed?! It was pointed out to you on several occasions. :p http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18232747&highlight=monitor+username_lysander

Anyway, you probably won't find the level of ghosting distracting but do be aware of the other issues that have been higlighted to you (namely variability between panels). As with any monitor you can always exercise your DSR rights if you're not happy so there's not much harm giving it a go.
