First off sorry for another "Which monitor thread".

I have been reading through the many posts on these boards.
I thought I had found my answer only to read another post that throws me.

I am after a 24" gaming screen, simple as that :)
I have up to £200 to spend (But if convinced can push it some more).
I play games 95% of the time with a little web browsing, only PC games, no consoles.

It seemed a choice of:
Samsung P2450H or BenQ G2420HDBL, I was edging towards the BenQ.
Then I visted the BenQ manufacturers web sites only to fined:
BenQ BL2400PT
BenQ EW2420
BenQ VW2420H
As for the Samsung site there are another 5 or more monitors that all seemed pretty much the same

All the monitors seem similar with just a few differneces.
Like I say it's just for gaming nothing more really.
So if it was your money which would you buy?

Thanks in advance for any pointers you can offer, sorry again for the same old "Which monitor" post.

i got the same issue aswell, i got the samsung 2253lw i think it is and at the time wasnt reviewed that well, average i guess, though i never had a problem with it, picture looked gr8. you could probably buy any of the ones you mentioned and you'd be happy with it.

im looking at the SM2443BW but being 3 years old now not sure if its worth it.

The monitors aren't similar at all. The BenQs you listed (other than the G2420HDBL) all sport VA (Vertical Alignment panels). To keep things basic - they offer better contrast and colour reproduction than the other monitors but suffer when it comes to responsiveness. A more pressing issue, however, is the variability between units for these new monitors. The Samsung P2450H probably offers the best and most consistent all-round performance out of the monitors listed. It offers superior colour reproduction than the G2420HDBL with smoother gradients, less noticeable dithering and greater overall accuracy. It also has a superior overdrive implementation which means it feels more responsive when you use it. The overall build quality is also a lot better - it is fairly solidly constructed (except perhaps the stand) and feels less like a toy than the BenQ G2420HDBL. The BenQ was a nice deal at around £140 and it really did stand out - I'm sure it makes a nice monitor for a lot of people. In my blunt but informed opinion the Samsung is the better buy at the moment.

Thanks for the advice.

I take it if I want to push my limit to just over £200 then the Dell U2311H seems to be the best to go for?
Otherwise keeping it under £200 it would be the Samsung P2450H.

Yes and no. The U2311H isn't outright 'better' than the Samsung P2450H for gaming. It is a great gaming screen no doubt but it does lack a certain vividness that the P2450H can provide. It captures lots of shades and the image has a lovely natural look but I've had people buy it without appreciating this and they weren't all that impressed with this aspect of it. It kind of depends what you're after.

Granted it is a lot of wonga for a PC screen...but to be fair you will see where your extra cash has went when you fire it up and bask in its glorious colour reproduction and your games look far richer than you have seen previously.

As with anything...you get what you pay for!

another issue i have is my monitor goes into an alcove, max height being just over 43cm, does it go that low?

Ah...that would be a problem!!!
