I have just come back from B&Q, went in to buy some spray paint (primer) for my little project......

Little till lady says, "Have you got any i.d?"

I handed it over...

The nice lady says "sorry but you have to be 21 to buy spray paint, incase you use it for solvent abuse"

Me being shocked at the fact im 19 and cant buy paint said, "well trust me im not, and even if i did intent to use it for that, i would paint the inside of my mouth a nice shade of yellow or green rather than a dull grey" to which i turned my back and walked off.... WHAT THE HELL IS THIS WORLD COMING TO!

rant over :)

HIDEOUS

Edit: I was in B&Q with me dad a few weeks back, he was buying some spray of some sort and they asked to check whether he was over 21... he is like a million! They say they have to ask everyone

i got ID'd to buy nitro morse, at b&q so i turn round and went next door to homebase where they served me lol

Its not gas, you do not have to spray it into your mouth to get high, you could spray it into the lid and breath in the fumes. There is also the graffiti side of it as well.

It is just a precaution that some stores make, they would rather have a 'better safe than sorry' approach.

As for being able to buy paint, the fumes from paint and spray are different as far as im aware.

Your better off going to a car shop or modelling shop for your spray paint anyway, its usually cheaper than B&Q!

What you should have done is say to her "Are you accusing me of being a solvent junkie? I'd like to see the Manager please."

Thought you had to be 18 to buy spray paint or 16, but they can ask you for I.D if you dont look 21. I work in a shop that sells spray paints part time. Maybe ive been breaking the law!

You should have gone militant lol

Do i look like solvent junkie to you ?

Well do I ?

This is discrimination of the nation, accusing me of being a junkie

do my eyes look funky

**** it.. just give me a paint brush :D

Not really, i work there (part-time) and no one i know who works there does. Although you never know what goes on behind closed doors!

You think thats bad I was in Spar and they had a sign up saying you needed to look 25 to buy cigs or alcohol, wtf.

25

Sorry but whats the point of selling alcohol if they are ******* themselves to selling to under age drinkers.

Yeah but they're saying you have to LOOK 25 to not get id'd. Not that you actually have to be 25. If you look under 25 but are over 18 and have id they will serve you.

In the OP's story they actually looked at his id and said you actually have to be 21 to buy paint.

Lol, well thats BS because i bought some last week from B&Q and got ID and im 20 and got sold it lol, go to halfords they sell it to me without asking for ID
