Hi wonder if anyone in the know can help with the following.

I have all my pictures organised in folders as follows.

My Pictures------

Then folders ie: 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 etc

within each of those 'year' folders I have folders with the following
eg:
---walks
---pets
---nephew birthday party
---golf

Now a lot of the folders also have videos in as well as photos.

Is there any way, formula, programming etc I can copy and move JUST the videos to somewhere else.

Or do I have to do it all manually. Thanks

If youre on vista/w7 Just search the root folder I.e. My Pictures for the video file extension e.g. .mov

Oh I know that bit. What I was wanting as I have video files mixed up in a lot of picture folders. Was a way of just moving all the video files from random folders to one central location.

Yes, once you have all the videos listed in the search results window you can just cut/paste them to another folder and it will remove them from their respective locations.

I just hope I'm understanding you correctly!

All the videos are in the Pictures folder, correct? Albeit in different sub-folders. If you open up your Pictures folder in explorer, there will be a search box in the top right. If you run a search for ".mov" it will show all the files within any of those sub-folders with that extension i.e. all your videos.

So what you're basically looking at now is a list of all the videos within your Pictures folder and all of its sub-folders. What you can now do is copy these to a new folder, on the desktop for example. Once you've copied them, you can delete your search results, which will delete the video files from their respective locations inside the Pictures folder. The net result being you've separated all the videos from the other file types without manually going into each folder - Windows search has done the donkey work for you.
